The Blavatnik Fellowship offers Harvard Business School alumni and Harvard-affiliated postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to advance new ventures around promising life science technologies and develop their leadership talents during a 12-month fellowship year. Congratulations to this year's fellows: - Narek Dshkhunyan (MBA 2024) - the CEO and co-founder of Sanso, a biomanufacturing startup aiming to make biologics more accessible to patients worldwide - Aaron Edwards (MS/MBA 2024) - co-founder and CEO of KiraGen Bio, a biotech company that utilizes machine learning-driven multiplex gene editing to engineer CAR-T cells that can resist the immunosuppressive effects of solid tumor microenvironments - Stephen Linderman (MD, PhD 2019) - the CEO and co-founder of Absco Therapeutics (AbscoTx), an immune oncology company specializing in image-guided, intratumoral drug delivery - Somani Patnaik (MBA 2023) - the co-founder and CEO of TurnipCare, an AI-based referral management and care coordination platform - Andrew Thomson (MBA 2024) - co-founder and CEO of Modulate Bio, a biotechnology company developing next-generation therapies to treat neurological disorders, including tremors, epilepsy and anxiety "It is gratifying to be a part of the program to enable the next generation of entrepreneurs who are developing groundbreaking technology and biomedical innovation,” said Peter Barrett, Harvard Business School Executive Fellow, PhD. In June, the Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in Israel, held in partnership with The New York Academy of Sciences and the The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, honored Thomas Vidick for his pioneering work in quantum complexity and cryptography, exploring how quantum devices work. Thomas' groundbreaking research at the Weizmann Institute of Science will shape the development of 21st century quantum networks for secure communication and computation. #science #blavatnikawards #quantumcomputer

Congratulations to Viviana Gradinaru, a 2021 Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientist National Finalist, for being named one of Carnegie Corporation of New York's Great Immigrants of 2024! Comprised of naturalized citizens from 16 countries, honorees are recognized for their work in science, public service, education, health, journalism, the arts, and business, among other fields. Gradinaru’s research focuses on developing neurotechnologies to understand and repair nervous systems. She has also explored the benefits of deep brain stimulation for patients with Parkinson’s disease. "One of the parts I enjoy the most is the thrill of discovery, of being able to see a phenomenon for the very first time," notes Schraga Schwartz who was honored at last month's Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in Israel for his groundbreaking work mapping and quantifying RNA modifications through the development of novel RNA analytical methods. Schraga explains how the research he is doing at the Weizmann Institute of Science advances the understanding of critical regulatory mechanisms in our cells that could possibly lead to treatments of genetic diseases. #science #blavatnikawards #RNAresearch 

A team of scientists, led by George Hajishengallis, at the University of Pennsylvania have discovered new insights on stem cell clones and inflammation in bones. The research takes a look at the relatively unknown condition of clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) and how it is linked to increased risks of various inflammation-related diseases. The Foundation is a proud supporter of the post doctoral fellowships at Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System and it's great to see the team continuing to advance their research to help improve people's health. "The most complex organ in the human body is the brain. Every basic activity we do is maintained by millions of cells that are communicating with one another. This complexity is also what makes it very challenging and susceptible to a range of diseases," says Moran Shalev-Benami, PhD who was named one of three Laureates at this year's Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in Israel, held in partnership with The New York Academy of Sciences and the The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities. Moran was recognized for her research on signaling pathways in the human brain and how to decipher the crucial link between the molecular and physiological levels of brain activity. More recently, her research at the Weizmann Institute of Science focuses on how the complex signaling systems in the brain emerged through evolutionary processes. #science #blavatnikawards #brainresearch

At this year's Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, The Royal Ballet will be joining in a historic two week-long takeover. This will be The Royal Ballet's first engagement in the United States since 2019. The group's first performance will debut at the festival on July 3 through to Sunday, July 7 at the Ted Shawn Theatre and will feature the U.S. premiere of "Secret Things" by American choreographer Pam Tanowitz and a world premiere by the Ballet's resident choreographer, Wayne McGregor, created especially for Jacob’s Pillow. Emily Blavatnik and The Blavatnik Family Foundation is proud to support The Royal Ballet's presentation at the festival. Congratulations to Justin Peck who won a Tony award for Best Choreography at the 77th Annual Tony Awards for the dance musical "Illinoise"! "I love theatre with all my heart, and I'll be forever thankful to this community for embracing a musical that harnesses the profound power of dance on Broadway," said Justin while accepting his second Tony.
