"We both start with a dream." 🌟 Our chairman, Arthur M. Blank, often speaks about the profound impact of sports on society. Recently, he added a new perspective: sports give people a chance to dream - about playing, competing, and winning. This insight resonates deeply with our philanthropic mission. Just as athletes envision victory, we envision a better world. Our dream? A society built on love, fairness, and equitable opportunities. Sports and #philanthropy may seem different, but they share a common thread: the power of dreaming big and working tirelessly to turn those dreams into reality. About us
The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation is a philanthropy founded to help transform lives and communities by uniting people across differences to find common cause. Started in 1995 by Arthur M. Blank, co-founder of The Home Depot, the foundation has granted more than $1 billion to charitable causes. Our collective giving areas are Atlanta’s Westside, Democracy, Environment, Mental Health and Well-Being, and Youth Development. Across these areas, we take on tough challenges by uniting the courage and compassion of our communities so we can all thrive together. The Foundation invests in education, parks and greenspace, youth development, community redevelopment, and the arts, and leads giving programs for each of the Blank Family of Businesses, including the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, PGA TOUR Superstore, Mountain Sky Guest Ranch, and West Creek Ranch.

📱Last year, adolescents spent an average of 4.8 hours daily on social media. That's 1.8 hours more than the 3-hour threshold linked to a doubled risk of anxiety and depression symptoms. This excess amounts to over 650 hours annually - time that could be spent on healthier activities. But targeted interventions and responsible social media practices can reclaim this time. By implementing safeguards and promoting digital #wellbeing, we could potentially add hundreds of hours of improved #mentalhealth to young people's lives each year. Healthier online habits lead to healthier minds, stronger relationships, and more resilient communities. ⛳️The First Tee Leadership Academy recently brought 48 high school students to Atlanta for an inspiring week of growth and learning. These young #leaders participated in workshops and gained valuable insights from our team, including Daniel Shoy, managing director of Atlanta's Westside and Youth Development; Elizabeth Brown, managing director of Mental Health and Well-Being; and Kelley Gulley, MBA, chief of staff. This program aims to develop leadership skills, build relationships and create opportunities for diverse youth across the country. The cover story in SSIR’s summer issue, “Where Strategic Philanthropy Went Wrong” by Mark Kramer and Steve Phillips, has generated lively discussion across the philanthropic sector, including right here on LinkedIn. Jodi Nelson, Ph.D. and Fay Twersky of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation respond with a defense of strategic philanthropy and explain that how Kramer and Phillips describe the practice is unrecognizable to them. #philanthropy #impact

🏈 President Fay Twersky's annual letter explores the surprising similarities between football and the world of giving. From "moving the ball down the field" in #affordablehousing to "calling an audible" during grantee gatherings, sports analogies have become a powerful tool in our philanthropic playbook at the foundation. Curious about what these two fields have in common? Read Fay’s letter to discover how the principles of football can apply to philanthropy and how this unique perspective might broaden our approach to creating social impact: https://lnkd.in/eY4wi5eR Atlanta Falcons; Terry Fontenot

👩🏾⚖️What's the best way to ensure our nation has strong, effective lawmakers? Educate them, measure their progress and hold them accountable. The Center for Effective Lawmaking creates scorecards for federal lawmakers that quantify their ability to break through the gridlock in Congress and move policies through the legislative process. "The results of the scorecards will benefit the public who deserve to know how well their elected officials collaborate and legislate," says Wendy Feliz, managing director of Democracy at the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. Learn about lawmakers and accountability: https://lnkd.in/er_xM5S5
