Dissociated tumor cells are a valuable tool in cancer researchers' arsenal. They offer significant advantages for in vitro drug screening and evaluation, personalized medicine applications, and modeling tumor heterogeneity. However, ethical considerations in sourcing starting materials and the limitations of DTCs must be carefully managed. Uncovering #biomarkers for acute ischemic #stroke (AIS) may hold the key to unlocking what causes harmful blood clots in the brain. For AIS, biomarkers such as brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-Terminal-proBNP are significant as these proteins are usually higher in those with heart problems. Recent research looked at these biomarkers from two types of AIS patients: those with #cardioembolic strokes and those with large artery #atherosclerosis strokes. The study aimed to identify where and how these proteins were located in the clots to understand their role in clot formation. In the study, pancreatic cancer tissue purchased from BioIVT was used as positive control tissue for BNP and NT-proBNP expression. Overall, their findings showed a strong positive correlation between BNP and NT-proBNP levels. BNP was found all over the clot, especially in areas rich in platelets while NT-proBNP was mostly found with certain types of white blood cells, suggesting it might be involved in the inflammation process related to clotting. 📖 Read the full study: https://hubs.ly/Q02Hr0vQ0 🧫 Explore available #biospecimens for #oncology, #neuroscience and more: https://hubs.ly/Q02Hrmpq0

This #WorldBrainDay 2024, we want to highlight the significance of diversity and sample reliability in neurology research. A reported 50% of preclinical studies are irreplicable. This significant waste of time and resources is estimated to cost the United States $28 billion annually. One contributing factor is the use of #biospecimens that do not accurately represent the patient population. Additionally, many research studies categorize samples as "normal" when donors may have undetected or unknown pathologies. These practices introduce bias and inaccuracies into research, leading to unreliable results and hindering progress in the field. At BioIVT, we recognize the importance of sample diversity and quality in supporting neuro research and remain committed to providing the world's largest private repository of human #cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This means you have access to a diverse pool of reliable biospecimens that are vital to enhancing the generalizability of study outcomes and ensuring that new treatments can benefit everyone. Samples are available across age, gender, and ethnicity, offering unmatched quality and reliability in biospecimen sourcing.
