Experts are considering how gene therapy can work against brain tumors. Approximately 12,000 Americans are diagnosed each year with glioblastoma, the most common and deadly brain tumor, with an average survival of just 15 months.   A type of gene therapy called CAR-T that has extended survival for thousands of patients with leukemia and other blood cancers is currently being adopted at UC San Francisco to treat people with glioblastoma. Consultants, at some point in your career, you’re going to have to have a difficult conversation with a client! 📣 Navigating these conversations isn’t easy, but here are 5 tips to help you be more confident and effective: #1) Prepare for the conversation ▶ Gather your thoughts before the conversation. Create an open space and ensure the discussion has a purpose and a goal.  #2) Actively listen  ▶ Openly listen to your client's perspective. Instead of focusing on your response, reflect on the conversation. Using body language, eye contact, and no interruptions are ways to show you’re actively listening.  #3) Create space for dialogue ▶ Allow the other party to express their opinion. It will allow you to consider the situation from their perspective. #4) Brainstorm solutions together ▶ Work together to develop solutions. Keep the conversation moving forward instead of dwelling on the issue at hand and be willing to compromise. #5) Close the conversation ▶ Share the solution you both agreed to orally and in writing.
