As EuroVelo 3 was my introduction to the world of the route network via the Pilgrim's Route project back in 2017 it seems only fitting to approach Viborg for this year's conference along this route. Looking forward to sharing the Take care of your trails campaign and discussing how cities and regions can become more mountain bike friendly for public health and engaging youth and other at-risk groups!

Thank you Riksdagens Cykelnätverk and Svenska Cykelstäder for inviting me to a very interesting seminar this European Mobility Week on childrens' active mobility and Cycling at the Swedish parliament. Fantastic examples were shared from initiatives both domestic (Luleå, Göteborg) and international (Paris, Bolzano). And Cycling Industries Europe president Tony Grimaldi of Cycleurope Sverige made a passioned argument for addressing the youth health crisis in Sweden through cycling. Let's not ignore the potential that incorporating lessons from outdoor recreation can do for improving the attractiveness of cycling for mobility! We need more child-friendly trail networks near schools to encourage uptake of cycling, and why not mountain bike trails as part of a municipality's neighborhood-level cycling network? As the theme of the day was kid's cycling, it felt appropriate to arrive on the 20" wheels of my Bike Friday. Welcome, Brompton Bicycle to cycling's gritty subcultures. Better late than never!

Though my time waiting for the train in Vienna to start my long journey home wasn't spent strolling around the city with Julie Delpy I did have the good fortune to participate in the Kidical Mass with hundreds of Viennese including Alec Hager and the kind folks from Radlobby who stage this amazing event, making the streets safe for kids to ride and explore their city. Keep up the awesome work!

As I begin my long journey to the IMBA Europe Summit I utilize EuroVelo 10 to ride to Stockholm Central Station (on my versatile Bike Friday), and cannot help but appreciate the fact that I'm using recreational cycling infrastructure to help me attend a conference specifically concerning peri-urban mountain bike trails. As cycling advocates we need to see and promote infrastructure for recreation and for mobility, and find more ways to help people enjoy using their bikes for daily journeys, and enable daily journeys for enjoying bikes. I look forward to seeing you in Vienna and developing this conversation face-to-face. Happy trails!
