Last month, we joined Altamont Little League to pay tribute to Chris Melo and name Altamont’s T-Ball Field in his honor. Chris served as president of Altamont for years, but more importantly, went above and beyond for the kids in the league. He worked tirelessly on his own time to ensure that they had access to the best fields and the best coaches possible. His hard work turned what was a good little league operation into the best in Bernalillo County!

Yesterday, we proudly welcomed a delegation from Costa Rica as part of the New Mexico National Guard’s Partner Nation Exchange Program! The visit focused on sharing strategies to preserve habitats, property, and lives threatened by wildland fires. The delegation had the opportunity to tour several key county facilities. This engagement is part of a broader initiative supported by the U.S. Military’s Southern Command to strengthen international partnerships and exchange best practices. Last night, the Board of Commissioners recognized some incredible individuals who are making a real difference in Bernalillo County! 🌟 County commissioners recognized Bernalillo County Animal Care's Emergency Response Team for their incredible work during the South Fork and Salt Fires. They swiftly set up an emergency animal shelter, providing care to over 50 displaced animals and offering much-needed support to the community. We're grateful for their compassion and service during such a challenging time. __________ 🌟 County commissioners also acknowledged Tamara Nugent for her outstanding dedication to animals in Bernalillo County. As a business owner and South Valley resident, Tamara has spent the past 10 years rescuing and rehoming animals in need, many of them elderly or with severe medical conditions. Her commitment to funding their treatment and finding them forever homes has made a lasting impact. We're grateful for her partnership with BernCo Animal Care and look forward to many more years of collaboration. Thank you, Tamara!
