Dr. Beate Angelika Kraus, who is affiliated with the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn and has spent years studying the score of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, was full of praise for the concert on 13 May in Antwerp. Kraus states: ‘When you, like me, have spent years researching the sources and the musical text, you know Beethoven's work very well and can hear all the details. You hear how intensely an interpretation has been worked out and thought through. The audience feels this intuitively and is enthusiastic, often without knowing that behind the performance lies an intellectual and artistic study of the composition, one that few conductors and orchestras take time to do. With Jan Caeyers, the famous work seemed so fresh and new that we could only listen and marvel.’ Dr. Kraus's ‘Geheimtipp’?
