The Beaumont Children's team put on an amazing Dream Cruise-inspired celebration for our pediatric patients and families. While classic cars rolled by just outside, patients and families at the hospita in Royal Oak enjoyed a special parade of their own, complete with stretcher floats, snacks, games and prizes!

Doctors at Corewell Health’s Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak are using CAR-T therapy to help patients like Peter live to do the important things in life – like walk his daughter down the aisle this September. “Without CAR-T therapy, we don’t know where Peter would be today,” said Dr. Ishmael Jaiyesimi, Corewell Health’s Cellular Therapies Clinical Program Director. “But now, he is in remission and should be able to enjoy his daughter’s wedding.” CAR-T therapy harnesses the patient’s immune system in the fight against cancer by training the patient’s T-cells – white blood cells that protect the body from infection or disease – to recognize, attack and destroy the cancer cells. “It’s like you trained an army to go after this lymphoma,” Dr. Matthew Cotant, M.D., Corewell Health hematologist and oncologist, said. “It’s incredible. Years ago, we wouldn’t have any good treatment options for a patient after having an autologous (stem cell) transplant, and now, we’re talking about a 40% cure rate.” Read Peter's story: https://ow.ly/18xa50PufAM
