Significant progress has been made on the Howard Frankland Bridge project, Tampa's largest bridge construction to date, now 90% complete and scheduled for completion by next spring. As the Lead Designer on this design-build, BCC Engineering takes pride in our partnership with The Walsh Group - Walsh Construction & Archer Western on another major project in the Tampa Bay area. We look forward to the positive impact this will have on the region’s transportation network.

From September 13th-15th, Aishwary Chanda and Stefka Vacheva from H&L (a BCC Company) participated in the ASCE Younger Member Leadership Symposium (YMLS) Alumni Summit in Houston, Texas. This event, designed for ASCE Younger Members, focused on advanced leadership and soft skills training. Sessions covered key topics such as communication challenges, building and managing diverse teams, and providing feedback while setting appropriate boundaries. The summit also included opportunities for professional networking.

On Thursday, September 26, the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Region 7 of Florida, representing Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe Counties, held its inaugural local meeting. The event was led by Board Member Victor H. Herrera, PE, of BCC Engineering, and included a presentation by Mr. Torey Alson, Executive Director of the Greater Miami Expressway Agency, on the GMX capital plan. Professionals from ACEC member firms attended, creating an opportunity for industry leaders to discuss key developments and foster collaboration within the region.

We were honored to participate in the MUST Ministries Ron Godwin Memorial Golf Tournament on September 9th, 2024, at Pinetree Country Club. H&L, a BCC Company, proudly served as the Flight Sponsor, contributing to the effort that helped raise over $101,000 to support MUST Ministries in their mission to serve neighbors in need. As we look back on last week’s #RoundaboutWeek, we’re excited to announce that our Georgia office has been awarded a contract by the City of Newnan to provide engineering design services for the New Roundabout at Greison Trail/Jefferson Street/Sprayberry Road Intersection. Roundabouts, which we’ve implemented across the Southeast, offer significant benefits: 1. 90% reduction in fatalities and 76% fewer injuries. 2. Improved traffic flow, reducing congestion and emissions. 3. Lower maintenance costs and aesthetically pleasing designs. At BCC, we’re committed to building safer, more efficient roadways for everyone.

BCC is proud to announce the start of construction on the much-needed FIU Pedestrian Bridge project, where we are serving as Project Manager and Prime Designer. This bridge will improve safety by creating a dedicated crossing over SW 8th Street, connecting Florida International University with the residential areas and student housing to the north. With support from federal, state, and local partners, the bridge will provide a secure and convenient pathway for students and the community. On Saturday, September 7th, three of our engineers participated in ACEC GA's STEM Day at Kennesaw State University, an event designed to introduce 3rd-8th graders to engineering through hands-on activities.   Lainie Wheetman, Roadway Engineering Designer, said, "It's always great to see returning students and parents excited about our demonstrations. We hope we're helping to inspire the next generation of engineers."
