  • Brown & Brown Insurance’s Teammate Resource Groups (TRGs) are an extension of Brown & Brown’s Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging strategy, seeking to positively impact the Brown & Brown organization by exploring new connections, engaging in the culture of diversity, inclusion and belonging, while empowering members to help drive better business outcomes for all teammates. There are currently five active TRGs, each with its own unique mission seeking to support the broader purpose across the organization: Black Excellence, LGBTQ , Mental Health, The Power of She and Veterans. In honor of BIPOC Mental Health Month, we spotlight the Black Excellence TRG. The mission of the Black Excellence TRG is to challenge the status quo, take action and make a difference for Black and African American teammates at Brown & Brown. Seeking to build a supportive and affirming atmosphere, Black Excellence aims to increase enterprise-wide representation for Black and African American teammates. To focus their efforts, the Black Excellence TRG established three pillars on which to base their work: Education and Engagement: Provide education and resources on allyship and increase overall connectivity of Black Excellence members. Professional Development: Establish a forum for career conversations, workshops and visibility of Black and African American talent within the enterprise. Recruitment: Develop and provide enterprise-wide Black and African American recruiting resources. #BlackExcellence #ThePowerToBeYourself #BBThePowerOfWE #BIPOCMentalHealthMonth

  • We don't ever want to know a summer without ice cream! Originated in 1984 by President Reagan, he proclaimed the third Sunday of July to be National Ice Cream Day given it's "a nutritious and wholesome food, enjoyed by over 90 percent of the people in the United States." Who can say no to that?     Don't waste your chance to enjoy this sweet treat today!     #icecream #summer #Brown&BrownAbsenceServices #NationalIceCreamDay

  • July marks Disability Pride Month which commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990. People with disabilities are the largest minority population in the US and include a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds. Through Pride Month, this population is celebrated for their contributions to society and the stigma of disability is challenged. This year's theme, "We Want a Life Like Yours", acknowledges the ability of those with disabilities to achieve their dreams and thrive. At Brown & Brown Absence Services we are proud to support those with disabilities every day by advocating for the benefits they are entitled to. • The SSA has relied on the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) since 1938 for consulting on functional requirements when determining whether an SSDI applicant qualifies for disability benefits. In June they released an Emergency Message stating they will eliminate 114 occupational titles found in the DOT, including such outdated jobs as “nut sorter” and “microfilm processor” to better reflect the nature of the modern workplace. This change aligns with the SSA’s goal of modernizing their approach in order to better serve claimants and build trust in government, as directed in President Biden’s Executive Order on Transforming Federal Customer Experience and Service Delivery to Rebuild Trust in Government. For more information on what this means for SSDI applicants, read our latest Business Sense blog at the link below. https://lnkd.in/exa8HqXx #SSA #socialsecurity #socialsecuritydisability #disabilitybenefits

  • When faced with a denial for SSDI benefits, knowing how to properly file a Request For Hearing (RFH) is vital to the potential for a successful outcome. Given the high volume of RFHs received monthly (between 20,000 - 40,000), being thorough up front will go a long way to ensuring you will not see a delay to scheduling your hearing. In order to position your RFH optimally, we’ve compiled this list of three key items to focus on that can help you best navigate the process.
