Our Children’s Counselor, Chavis, works with the children in our shelter and regularly hosts a "Chillin' With Chavis" group. Recently, the children did a Recognizing My Emotions activity. It's a reflective activity designed to help kids identify, understand, and name their emotions. The kids explored various feelings, learned to differentiate between similar emotions, and connected them to specific life situations. The goal is to increase their emotional awareness and develop strategies for healthily managing emotions. #BATPTX #BayAreaTurningPoint #EmotionsAreHealthy

Our hearts are heavy about the tragic loss of Andrea Rodriguez Avila, a student at Rice University, who was killed in her dorm room by someone she had a relationship with. This underscores the importance of bystander intervention and its role in preventing such tragedies. August is Bystander Intervention Awareness Month. This heartbreaking loss reminds us why it’s crucial to recognize the signs of an abusive or troubled relationship and take action when we see them.
