Meet Peggy & Josh, the incredible K-9 Veteran and her handler who are Banfield's newest clients! 🧡 This is thanks to our Veterans Diversity Resource Group, who collaborated with United States War Dogs Association to sponsor Peggy's Optimum Wellness Plan and recognize the heroic contributions of K-9 Veterans. When Peggy came in for her first visit, Banfield Woodbridge had to make it extra special, and even rolled out the red carpet for her and Josh! She is a 6-year-old Belgian Malinois who served as a Marsoc Multi-Purpose Canine from 2018 to 2022, completing two deployments in Syria and Iraq. During her service, she participated in 20 missions involving advising, assisting, and enabling operations, conducting over 300 hours of explosive detection, close quarter battle, cave clearances, and dismounted foot patrols. Thank you, Peggy and Josh, for your service! We are proud and honored to provide quality veterinary care for heroes like you. #BanfieldPetHospital #BanfieldLife #BanfieldVeterans #USWarDogAssociation #MilitaryDog

It’s Quality Week here at Banfield! We focus on providing quality preventive veterinary medicine every day of the year, but this week is a special moment for us to celebrate and reflect on the impact our dedicated Associates have made together. From reducing heartworm prevalence to increasing anesthesia safety, and always prioritizing a culture of safety, our teams are united in care for every pet they see. Thank you to every Associate for your commitment to Quality and helping make a BETTER WORLD FOR PETS! #BanfieldPetHospital #BanfieldLife #VeterinaryMedicine #MarsVeterinaryHealth #ProudlyMars

This week at Banfield, we’re celebrating our seventh annual Quality Week. This moment, midway through the year, is one of my favorite times to recognize our Associates for their commitment to providing high-quality preventive veterinary medicine every day – thank you, team! Together we reflect on what we’ve accomplished through our dedication to learning, accountability and a culture of safety, wellbeing and belonging. In my 18 years with Banfield, it’s been incredible to see the impact we can have when Associates are empowered to Dream big, Do good, and Be here for pets. Together, we continue to see record lows in anesthesia mortality rates, and through our focus on heartworm prevention, we’ve decreased the prevalence of this disease by 10%. These numbers say a lot, but what matters most to me is that every Banfield Associate has the tools, learning, and support from peers and leaders to do their best for pets every day. This year, our Quality Week focus is around dermatology. Even though more pets come into our hospitals during the summer because of environmental allergies and parasites, chronic skin inflammation is a year-round challenge, and one that we address practice wide. We’re also this year prioritizing hearing from Banfield Associates with our first-ever Culture of Safety survey. The feedback will be invaluable as we continue to support the needs of pets and people into the future. I’m really looking forward to celebrating our teams all week long for their innovative ideas and creative solutions that elevate safe, quality preventive care in our hospitals each day. We’re all here to help build #ABetterWorldforPets and quality unites and guides us in this journey. #BanfieldPetHospital #BanfieldLife #ProudlyMars #DreamBigDoGoodBeHere #VeterinaryMedicine #VetMed

Our Associates answered the call and the #DoGoodMovement is in full swing this summer! We hosted nearly 30 volunteer events in the month of June. Banfield Gives Back is one of the largest volunteer programs in the veterinary industry, giving our Associates more opportunities to volunteer, dream big and do good. We love seeing our Associates lending their support and volunteering with causes and organizations in our communities to improve the lives of pets and increase access to care. From doggy spa days to dog park cleanups to free clinics and animal rescue adoption events. Even our NextVet interns have joined the movement and attended events in their local markets as a part of their internship. We're just getting started, so stay tuned for more updates later this summer! #BanfieldPetHospital #BanfieldLife #BanfieldCareers #ProudlyMars #ABetterWorldForPets #Volunteering #BanfieldGivesBack

#AVMA2024 has come to a terrific close and once again demonstrated the multitudinous opportunities it and other veterinary conferences provide for learning and engagement. For Banfield Associates, they had access to incredible continuing education (CE) to further their skills and bring back to their teams. All Banfield veterinarians and veterinary technicians receive CE funds and streamlined registration for select conferences like AVMA designed to make it as easy as possible for them to attend. Attendees interested in Banfield could stop by our booth and speak with Associates to get a sense for what it’s like to work with us. Our leaders got incredible face time with their peers in the industry, academic leaders and, importantly, our Associates. The opportunity to speak with Associates and get their perspectives in a unique setting outside our hospitals is incredibly valuable. They always walk away with new perspectives and action items that they work to address. A highlight for all Associates at #AVMA is the Banfield Associate reception, where we showcased Banfield’s unique culture – from our commitment to quality medicine and equity, inclusion & diversity to health & wellbeing, the Banfield Gives Back volunteer program, our charitable arm Banfield Foundation and more. Thank you to the Women's Veterinary Leadership Development Initiative and Veterinary Medical Association Executives (VMAE) for inviting Banfield leaders to speak at your respective events and AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) for a great conference. See you next year! #BanfieldPetHospital #BanfieldLife #BanfieldCareers #ProudlyMars #VeterinaryMedicine #VetMed#MarsVeterinaryHealth #VetStudent #Veterinarian #VetTech #Petcare #Vetcare#BanfieldCareers #ABetterWorldForPets #BanfieldLovesVTs #bHere #VeterinaryConference #BanfieldGivesBack #ContinuingEducation #CareerDevelopment #AVMA

Happy #PrideMonth! We loved seeing our Associates #LeadwithPride this month in hospitals, at parades, and through the #RainbowScrubChallenge (thanks for the partnership on the latter VCA Animal Hospitals!) This support helps us continue to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels they are able to bring their full selves to work while we all work together to create #ABetterWorldforPets. Although #PrideMonth is coming to a close, Banfield commits to continuing these important conversations all year long. Thanks to our Banfield Pride Diversity Resource Group for creating amazing content and opportunities for our Associates to learn from, connect with each other, and grow. #banfieldpethospital #banfieldlife #banfieldcareers #banfieldpride #proudlymars

One of the many great things about Banfield being proudly part of Mars is the incredible opportunity to join a global community committed to driving positive change. This is embodied in the Mars Ambassador Program (MAP), a signature Mars volunteer program that empowers Associates to volunteer their time and skills to help nonprofit organizations advance their mission. By aligning with our business priorities and purpose, MAP ensures that the skills and expertise of our Associates are applied in ways that not only support these organizations but also align with our core values and strategic goals. We’re thrilled to share that 14 Banfield Associates have been selected for MAP assignments this year! Our charitable arm, the Banfield Foundation is co-hosting and funding assignments in Arizona, Hawaii and – new this year – Saipan. We also have Associates headed to Ghana and India. We can’t wait to share details and photos from their travels later this year. Congratulations to all the Ambassadors! #ProudlyMars #BanfieldFoundation #BanfieldGivesBack Mars Mars Veterinary Health Banfield Foundation Kim Van Syoc Arizona Humane Society Kauai Humane Society Humane Society International

With women making up nearly 70% of the veterinary profession and the number increasing annually, supporting moms and current and future veterinary professionals is incredibly important to us at Banfield. We are so inspired by this Authority Magazine interview with our chief medical officer, Dr. Alea Harrison, who candidly shares how she approaches the challenges of balancing motherhood and career – from facing “mom guilt” to creating those intentional moments of connection with her family – all while advocating for the veterinary profession and women in STEM.    Read more from Dr. Harrison here: https://lnkd.in/gmA3x7qg   #banfieldpethospital #banfieldlife #banfieldcareers #womeninSTEM #veterinary

I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with Authority Magazine about the job I’m most proud of: being a mother. My family brings me peace and gives me energy to bring my best to other areas of life, and it’s made me more driven and connected to a greater purpose. But it’s important to acknowledge it’s not always rainbows and butterflies. Becoming a mother wasn’t an easy process for me, and as many can relate, there’s always a delicate balance prioritizing quality time with our families, careers, and personal wellbeing. What continues to drive me every day is showing my girls – and young women everywhere – what’s possible. As I advocate for the veterinary profession – which is made up of nearly 70% women today and increasing yearly – and the future pipeline of women in #STEM, I realize there’s a huge opportunity for me and others to set an example, especially for young African American girls. This mindset is what drives me to continue to be the best version of myself at home and at work. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of purpose-driven organizations like Banfield Pet Hospital and Mars that advocate for work-life balance and supporting women in the workplace. As my girls get older and better understand the work that we do to create #ABetterWorldforPets, I’m so proud to share with them the impact we have on people, pets, and communities. I don’t have it all figured out, but you can read more about what I’ve learned on my motherhood journey about taking the time to create those intentional and special moments of connection with family and living out my passion while finding time for self-care during the week: bit.ly/3KXs2cc #banfieldpethospital #banfieldlife #banfieldcareers #womeninSTEM #veterinary

At Banfield, we know that Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity are integral to living out our purpose: A Better World for Pets. That's why we're committed to ensuring that our workforce reflects the communities we serve, that we create an inclusive workplace culture where all our associates can be themselves, do their best work together, and that we provide quality care for all our clients and their pets. Our Diversity Resource Groups (DRGs) play a critical role in centering and elevating our Associates’ voices and create community across our practice. Today, Banfield's POWER and PRIDE DRGs collaborated to honor Juneteenth and the contributions of all the Black leaders who dedicated their lives to Black liberation and equality. This includes Marsha P. Johnson, a trailblazer in the fight for Black LGBTQIA rights. Marsha was a leading activist in the Stonewall riots of June 1969, the pivotal event that ignited the modern LGBTQIA rights movement and is remembered with Pride Month. Her courage and advocacy have left an enduring legacy, reminding us of the importance of intersectionality in our ongoing work to further Equity, Inclusion and Diversity. We are also celebrating Opal Lee, known as "the grandmother of Juneteeth," for her advocacy to make this a federally recognized holiday, which finally happened in 2021. Now at 97-years-old, she is having a homecoming this month – she received keys to a new home rebuilt on the same site where a racist mob destroyed her family's house on Juneteenth 80 years ago. Today we join with our Associates to remember and celebrate the freedom and resilience of our ancestors while also honoring the impactful contributions of individuals like Marsha P. Johnson and Opal Lee, who sacrificed so much in their fight for the liberation of all marginalized communities. By sharing their stories and histories, we foster a deeper understanding and respect among each other. #poweratbanfield #banfieldeid #juneteenth #pride #banfieldpride Kirk J.
