Let’s talk about Maryland Latinos Unidos! MLU was founded in 2020 to organize and connect healthcare, education and public safety resources for Maryland Latinos. In 2023, driven by the untimely and violent death of a student, MLU secured a BCF grant that enabled them to pilot a mental health program at Patterson High School designed to break down the barriers faced by many Latinos in finding mental health care

We had a fantastic time tabling with Alice Young, Partner at Nusinov Smith LLP and #LGBTQ Fund Advisory Committee member at the Maryland LGBTQ Business Expo last week! 🌈 It was an inspiring day connecting with so many passionate professionals and helping people learn about the LGBTQ Fund at BCF. Special thanks to Richard Adams and the entire team at the Maryland LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce, Inc., and a shout-out to Katie O'Malley for stopping by our table to chat. JoAnn Fruchtman has spent decades as a champion for young readers. She owned The Children’s Bookstore in Baltimore City for over 40 years. Even after the store closed, Fruchtman has continued to advocate for reading through The Children’s Bookstore Endowment for Books and Reading – a BCF field-of-interest fund that provided more than 30,000 books literacy organizations in 2023 alone. Read more about her story and share your favorite children’s books in the comments! https://ow.ly/yQtI50TkCsl
