DNB//Back Bay was happy to support and take part of the 5th Norwegian Life Science Investor Partnering Day! We always enjoy collaborating with The Life Science Cluster and look forward to many more exciting opportunities together. #LifeScience #Innovation #InvestorInsights #BBLSA #DNB
“You have to look beyond the honeymoon phase and think that this is something you want to be involved in for a long time. Then you need to be able to work together and hopefully also enjoy it!” This was the key takeaway from Pekka Simula at The Life Science Cluster’s 5th Norwegian Life Science Investor Partnering Day on May 15th. The focus of this year’s event was “The investor as your copilot”, pointing to the rapid digitization of discovery and business processes in life science, as well as the crucial role investors play by providing not only capital, but also valuable experience to the table. A special thanks to our program committee for making such a great event possible! Georgina Askeland, PhD, Kristin Odfjell, Øivind Enger The day had a “reverse pitch” setup, filled with valuable insights from both international and national investors for attending entrepreneurs and companies. It also provided investors with an opportunity to reflect and discuss among themselves. Here are some highlights: 𝟏. 𝐀 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬: Sarsia is raising their fourth fund, while Aleap initiates their early phase fund. Hadean Ventures and Innovation Norway, along with EU opportunities and the Business Norway initiative, broadened the investment base. 𝟐. 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: Back Bay Life Science Advisors, DNB Markets, Industrifonden, Innovestor, Novo Holdings Segulah Medical Acceleration and IQVIA brought diverse perspectives. There is a growing optimism in the international landscape, with investment trends pointing slowly upwards. 𝟑. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: Sergio Capancioni, Director search & evaluation international from AbbVie, reflected around the experienced investors’ role to ensure collaborative projects meet the standards of big pharma. These are just a few of the valuable presentations and insights. In addition, over 35 investors participated, and 70 one-on-one meetings and several company pitches were held throughout the day, facilitating important connections.
