At Axol Bioscience, we place great value on collaboration, which is why we've enjoyed attending 15 international events in the first half of 2024, meeting up with existing partners, and initiating many new relationships with future collaborators. From SLAS and SOT to MPS, CHDI, and many others, we would like to thank the organizers for bringing together like-minded professionals with whom we've had great discussions and built valuable partnerships. Conferences help us understand the iPSC landscape, take a look at emerging trends and needs, let our scientists showcase their research, and do some important "team-building" (aka navigating the fun challenges of travel and international cuisine!). At each conference we've discussed our work with scientists and researchers to get their valuable feedback and invited them to join our growing iPSC community. We have a busy schedule ahead, so come and speak to our team at the upcoming events in H2, more details to follow! #H1Events #Collaboration #iPSCs #StemCells

Functional iPSC-derived cells and the standardization of Microphysiological Systems We continue to see expansion in the adoption and use of MPS as the industry incorporates these models into early pharmacological screening and drug discovery. As models become more complex. It's essential to drive standardization across the wide range of platforms in use. Standardization should focus on the cells and reagents used, including ensuring batch-to-batch consistency of functionality, with manufacturing at an industrial scale and the development of stable and well-characterized cell lines with the appropriate rights and consents. Axol Bioscience have over a decade of experience supplying high-quality products and services to biopharma organizations. Our Quality Management System drives quality and consistency within our organization and is the bedrock for our daily work. We therefore welcome the publication of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) Standards Document, and are pleased to report excellent compliance with each of its components - see our response to the document below. As iPSC leaders, we've applied our decade of expertise to become the first choice for AD researchers looking to benefit from iPSC technology. Our new 2024 "Focus on Alzheimer's Disease" document highlights the latest developments in iPSC-derived Alzheimer's Disease modelling, and gives information on the products and services we provide to power AD research. Read more about our new document and download it here: https://hubs.la/Q02HXYyG0 We can power your AD research with: • axoLines™: we've done the hard work developing 7 iPSC lines (axoLines) reprogrammed from patients with AD. These axoLines can be used for custom differentiation to endpoint neurons and neuroinflammatory cells to build advanced in vitro AD models. • axoCells™: fuel your AD research with functional cells manufactured in our ISO 9001-accredited production facility • axoServices™: let us do the "heavy lifting" with a comprehensive suite of outsourced lab services, including differentiation, gene editing and AD compound screening • axoModels™: let's collaborate as we work to develop a "clinical trial in a dish" (CTIAD) model If you have any questions or would like to discuss a project, email us at [email protected] and let us know what we can do to help! #iPSCs #AD #StemCells #Alzheimer's Disease

We think TREM2 is a promising avenue for Alzheimer's Disease research and drug discovery- but what do you think? Alzheimer's Disease is the most common form of dementia worldwide, affecting over 40 million people. Yet despite this prevalence, we still have limited treatments and a staggering 99.6% failure rate for promising pre-clinical therapies. Human iPSC-based Alzheimer's Disease (AD) models could help us to tackle this challenge by providing more human-relevant disease models that incorporate patient-derived mutations for research and drug discovery. One gene that is of increasing interest to AD researchers is TREM2 (triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2) which plays an important role in the function of the brain's main neuroinflammatory cell, microglia. TREM2 mutations have been linked to the development of abnormal microglial behavior, potentially driving neurodegenerative diseases including AD. At Axol Bioscience, we're excited about the potential of TREM2 for AD drug discovery and have been exploring it as part of our wider AD disease model focus. We've therefore produced a discussion document to outline: • Why TREM2 could be a major target for AD drug discovery • The work we've done investigating TREM2 mutations in microglia • How we can support researchers looking to build in vitro TREM2 AD models Click here to access our discussion document: https://hubs.la/Q02HBF1h0 If you'd like to discuss a project, get in contact at [email protected] #iPSCs #microglia #TREM2 #AlzheimersDisease #DrugDiscovery
