Meet Farrell White, a peer recovery specialist at Durango Integrated Healthcare, who is making a profound impact on our community and patients. After witnessing the impact of substance use in the restaurant industry, where she worked for over 11 years, she chose to be part of the solution. Farrell celebrated nine years of sustained recovery from opioids on August 15.🎉 We want to share a big CONGRATS to Farrell on this milestone!! Her role, funded by the State Opioid and Stimulant Response (SOR) Grant, focuses on educating about and providing access to Naloxone (Narcan/Kloxxado). Farrell is dedicated to supporting individuals in recovery from opioid and stimulant addictions. Farrell collaborates closely with Axis’ Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment Program (IDDT), Jail-based Behavioral Health, and Jail Transition programs. The IDDT model, endorsed by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, supports individuals with severe mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Her Vision for 2025: Farrell's ambitious goal is to have naloxone available in every business across Durango. "I want to cultivate a culture where the community feels secure knowing that wherever they are in town, they can obtain naloxone to help someone in need,” she shared. Upcoming Events Farrell is organizing an event for Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, 2024, at the Durango Farmers Market from 8am-12pm. The event will feature a memorial wall to honor those we've lost to overdoses, along with resources and striking statistics. You can submit photos of your loved ones through the link below. Additionally, in collaboration with Southwest Paintball, Farrell is planning a paintball day for individuals in recovery. Engaging in new hobbies is a protective factor in early recovery, providing a fun and supportive environment for team-building. Farrell is eager to collaborate with team members and the community. Feel free to reach out to her anytime for collaboration or support. Important Update: A boil water and reduced usage alert has been issued due to a significant water main break in the Town of Dove Creek on Tuesday, August 13. Effective immediately, all water sources in Dove Creek are deemed non-potable, and a "do not drink" notice is in place. In light of this situation, Axis' Dove Creek Integrated Healthcare location is closed, effective at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13. Our top priorities are the safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and the community. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available. During this time, we encourage all residents to follow the boil water advisory and reduce water usage to ensure safety. Always prioritize safety, and do not consume any tap water unless it has been boiled or deemed safe by local health authorities. https://lnkd.in/eDyC_4jc For those requiring medical attention or crisis care, please contact Cortez Integrated Healthcare locations at 970.565.7946 or our Axis Care Line at 970.247.5245. Meet our team! Tim DaGiau, MHA, is a Billing Specialist at Axis. Recently, a patient shared a story highlighting Tim’s dedication to providing a five-star patient experience. “What really makes this post 5 stars is Tim DaGiau from the front desk! After my visit, Tim called to help me find additional resources that were in my price range. This man reached out to 20 different providers to find me the most affordable places in the area, then sent me that list! I’ve never worked in his position before, but if I had to guess, I’d say that wasn’t in his job description! Between Tim and Monica, they went above and beyond, and I am thrilled that I went with Axis Healthcare!”  Tim is also a co-chair of the Legislative and Public Policy Committee, a Colorado governor-appointed role for the Developmental Disabilities Council.
