Had a fantastic few days in New York! Huge thanks to Sarah Holmes and the team for hosting. I also want to express my gratitude to Kay Sargent, Anthony A. Parzanese, and David Barban for their insightful presentations. And, of course, a big thanks to all the attendees and companies represented for the engaging conversations! Now off to San Francisco for more meetings and a quick stop at WORKTECH. If you’re in San Francisco and want to tour a very cool office using AVUITY tech to drive efficiency and workplace experience, let’s connect! ✈️ Speaking of remote work, two challenges have really stood out to me: 1. Multitasking in meetings: No one can effectively multitask. When you try, you’re not fully engaged in the meeting or the work you’re doing on the side. It’s a lose-lose situation. 2. Silos: Remote work can amplify silos. We often only interact with our immediate teams and miss out on the spontaneous cross-department connections that happen in an office setting. This limits collaboration and innovation. What strategies have you found to overcome these hurdles in your organization? 💡👇
Yesterday in NYC, we hosted a Roundtable with 24 Corporate Real Estate professionals. The discussions centered around the workforce and workplace dynamics, with a focus on the importance of people as the top amenity in Corporate Real Estate. The event saw engaging conversations, thought-provoking insights, and challenges that sparked meaningful discussions. Thanks to everyone who attended. Kay Sargent, Francisco J. The commercial and office real estate market remains in a state of transition, as seen in this recent data. - Over the past 24 months, commercial property values have dropped by ~16%, though a slight recovery ( 2%) in 1H 2024 signals potential optimism. - Net absorption rates hit a two-year low in the first half of 2024, with vacancy rates continuing to climb to 20.5%. - Employers are adapting to a new normal, with hybrid work models stabilizing at around 51-52% office utilization across major U.S. cities. - The demand for office-to-multifamily conversions is accelerating rapidly, with 63% of office space either undergoing or planned for conversion, primarily into mixed-use residential projects. This mixed outlook reflects ongoing challenges but also opportunities for innovation in how office spaces are used and valued. #RealEstate #CommercialRealEstate #CRE #HybridWork #OfficeConversion
