An interesting article on RTE's website from Sangita Dhara at Trinity College Dublin, exploring the importance of connected vehicles to the future of transportation. With over 175 million connected vehicles on the world's roads already covered by an Avanci license, we continue to work with the talented innovators in the automotive and telecoms industries, to help bring their new technologies to transportation users around the globe. #globalinnovation #connectedvehicles https://lnkd.in/eetKqyJs

We always welcome the opportunity to share how our independent, one-stop solutions make patent licensing simple and efficient for all parties. Our Hosik Jang, SVP and head of the Korea Market Unit for Avanci recently presented to a packed audience at the annual conference of the Korea Intellectual Property Standards Agency.

The Korean IP Office (KIPO) and Korea Intellectual Property Strategy Agency(KISTA) asked Avanci to present our independent and optional joint licensing solutions at their recent conference, “2024 Standard Essential Patent Strategy Conference.” I was pleased to give an overview of Avanci, give an update on our licensing platforms and shared the benefits Avanci brings to Korean companies. The seminar brought together over 300 delegates from corporations, R&D institutes, universities, and government agencies in Korea, with the Commissioner of KIPO and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council on Science and Technologies also in attendance. I am grateful to KIPO and KISTA for giving us the opportunity to meet and connect with so many IP professionals and experts. #Avanci #Innovation #SEP

Hardly surprising that EVs and AI are amongst the hottest topics at World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian, China. Our founder and CEO Kasim Alfalahi shares his highlights from day 2 of Summer Davos. #AMNC24

Founder & CEO, Avanci - Accelerating Connectivity for a World of New Things

Day two at World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian, China was packed with a number of very interesting sessions, beginning early in the morning. In a panel on "Electrifying Urban Mobility", China’s former Minister of Science & Technology (MOST) Mr. Wan Gang, and several senior executives from auto and power companies, discussed how cities can work with the private sector to accelerate development of next-generation urban infrastructure to facilitate the transition to EVs. Mr. Wan reflected on how China’s national EV car program was initiated by MOST during his time as the Minister some 15-20 years ago and developed since then, a fascinating story. Other panels I attended covered topics such as the readiness of countries for AI, as well as its impact on other industries including the auto sector, for example for future autonomous driving. Several panels covered different aspects of energy infrastructure and battery technologies, all critical for EVs. One of the busiest sessions discussed "What’s Next for Chinese EVs?" Speakers talked about the challenges and opportunities Chinese EV companies face in maintaining their growing global momentum. Avanci stands ready to help them, by easing the process of licensing essential technologies for connectivity. In summary, AI and EVs are two of the hottest topics at this year's Summer Davos. I look forward to continuing discussions on both! #AMNC24

A great first day at World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian, China (a.k.a. Summer Davos). Chinese Premier Li Qiang in his opening address confirmed that China will continue opening its market, and offered four recommendations for international cooperation. Interesting for us at Avanci was a session on “China’s Driverless Tomorrow”, which predicted that 10% of new cars in countries like China will have Level 4 autonomous driving by 2030 – technology that relies on the connectivity which we license to automakers. It was also great to reconnect with some of our partners in China, including @Eric Xu, rotating Chairman of Huawei, as well as contacts old and new from industry and academia in the country. I can’t wait for tomorrow! #AMNC24 #autonomousvehicles #connectedvehicles

It's great to see how our licensees are using the cellular connectivity in their vehicles, which is licensed through Avanci, to bring new features and value to their customers without them needing to visit a dealership.

The development of pioneering technology at #MercedesBenz never stops and proof of this comes with the Europe-wide rollout of our new, partially automated Automatic Lane Change (ALC) feature. From a software innovation perspective, I’m also delighted to announce that this is the first time that we have ever offered any driving function as an over-the-air (OTA) update. This means that customers of around 200,000 cars across Europe will be able to benefit. This is the power of digital technology, and it demonstrates how Mercedes-Benz is delivering a more convenient and intelligent user experience to more and more customers all the time. ALC will also be available to customers ordering a new vehicle. ALC uses advanced radar sensors and cameras to constantly monitor the surroundings. To use the system, the car must be travelling on a motorway-like road with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC activated. Then, if ALC detects a slower-moving vehicle in front and determines there is sufficient space, it will initiate the manoeuvre entirely automatically – changing lanes, overtaking and then returning to the correct lane, all at speeds between 80-140 kph. What’s more, if the active route guidance is switched on in the navigation system, ALC will help you move into the right position for the next exit. Customers in 33 European countries will be able to get ALC in a total of 15 models from the C, E, and S-Class, GLC, CLE, EQE, EQS, EQS SUV and EQE SUV. I’m so proud of the work that we’ve done on ALC as it’s another example of how we are putting the customer at the centre of our in-car digital experience, helping to make long journeys as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. #MercedesBenz #Digital #Technology #Automateddriving

Yesterday saw the start of IAM's IPBC Global in San Francisco, with IP leaders from around the world congregating to discuss the latest in our industry - we wish everyone a successful conference. Tomorrow sees a discussion of “SEP licensing in new fields” moderated by our Luke McLeroy, President of Avanci Video, with a stellar panel of speakers. With six new Avanci programs launched last year, in fields as diverse as 5G connected vehicles, smart meters, NextGen broadcast TV, automotive aftermarket products, smart EV charging, and video streaming, we know this is an important topic! #IPBCGlobal #5G #connectedvehicles #atsc3 #evcharging https://lnkd.in/der3kvba
