If we had only a handful of words to define the trajectory of our lives, what words would we choose? Inspired by her parents, who immigrated to the United States, and her years as a mechanical engineer, Anindita Anne Partington, Managing Director of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations at the University of Michigan, encourages us to find those few special words that truly define us. With extensive #automotive industry experience, Anne has held leadership roles in product development, program management, and global supply chain at General Motors and Stellantis where she led a $3.5 billion mechatronics global purchasing team. She has also led an automobility technology commercialization program at the University of Michigan. Anne joins AutoVision News Radio host Carl Anthony to discuss the value of family and inclusion, why placing ourselves where the work is getting done matters, and why advocating for the next generation is vital. McLaren Automotive Ltd and the LEGO Group have debuted their latest collaboration, the LEGO Technic McLaren P1. Unveiled as part of the LEGO Technic Ultimate Car Concept Series, the 1:8 scale version consists of 3,893 elements. Key features include a seven-speed gearbox with two shifter drums, a suspension and V8 piston engine, an adjustable rear wing, and opening dihedral doors. Enthusiasts and collectors will also enjoy how each car features a unique serial number that unlocks special behind-the-scenes content. "It's amazing to see so many of the elements from the original P1 brought to life by the LEGO team for the LEGO Technic McLaren P1," said Tobias Suehlmann, Chief Design Officer of McLaren Automotive. "I hope this collaboration inspires the next generation of designers and engineers to push the boundaries of #automotive innovation." The LEGO Technic design team created the model in close collaboration with McLaren Automotive. Both teams were focused on implementing as much cutting-edge functionality as possible, a tribute to the real P1 and McLaren's engineering excellence. "Therefore, we worked on multiple variations of the car to test different designs. We also faced a huge challenge with the iconic butterfly doors because they needed a new mechanism to stay open," said Kasper René Hansen, Designer for the LEGO Group. "It was a great experience to recreate the McLaren P1 and I'm hoping all supercar enthusiasts out there are ready to explore the details and intricacies of the real McLaren P1 in LEGO Technic form." The LEGO Technic McLaren P1 will be available on the LEGO website and at LEGO Stores starting on August 1st for a retail price of $450.

The ECS - The Electrochemical Society has named Rana Mohtadi, PhD, a senior principal scientist at the Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA), a Fellow in its Class of 2024. Dr. Mohtadi is the first female from an automotive OEM to receive the honor. The Fellow designation, established by ECS in 1989, recognizes individual contributions in electrochemical and solid-state science and technology. Out of the 400 ECS fellows, Dr. Mohtadi joins a distinguished list of about 40 women. "The ECS has been my home society since I was a graduate student where I looked up to the ECS Fellows as role models," Dr. Mohtadi said. "I am deeply honored to receive this recognition and join other fellow scientists." Her work designing high-value materials for chemical and electrochemical energy storage technologies has set a new trend in electrolyte research in multivalent batteries. "The liquid and solid-state electrolyte materials she developed for mono and multivalent beyond Li-ion batteries were subject of handovers for consideration in practical applications," ECS and TRINA wrote in a joint press release. "Additionally, she has pursued sustainable batteries through chemistries thought to have less environmental impact and developed hydrogen storage materials with fuel cells." Dr. Mohtadi is a Principal Investigator for the Advanced Institute for Materials Research at Tohoku University in Japan. She received a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of South Carolina and holds 36 patents.
