The City Manager presented the draft budget for fiscal year 2025 on Friday, July 12. This proposed budget is lacking funding to maintain adequate staffing for parks, recreational and cultural centers, and pools. An example of funds needed: Austin Parks and Recreation Department need an additional 20 full-time maintenance employees to keep up with baseline service expectations. The funding for these additional staffers is not in the proposed budget. Make your voice heard. To help ensure that PARD is funded and able to keep Austin’s parks clean: • Email or call your council member • Attend your council member’s budget town hall and insist that you want clean, usable parks • Speak at the public input sessions during budget adoption on July 24 and August 1 For additional information and resources: https://bit.ly/3S96Owl

One of our favorite things about Amplify Austin Day is seeing nonprofits get creative to meet their fundraising goals during the giving event. Austin Parks Foundation is a fantastic example! This year, they raised $66,629 for 24 park projects across the city by combining the power of peer-to-peer fundraising with their Adopt-A-Park program! These funds go to their Sponsored Fund Accounts, which Adopt-A-Park groups use to fund projects important to their neighborhoods.
