Since its addition to the LCI Program in 2001, Midtown Alliance has benefitted from study funding for updates to its “Blueprint” plans as well as several supplemental/tactical studies. In 2021, ARC funded the That’s My Stop! Midtown Bus Stop Enhancements Plan. In partnership with local Atlanta artist George F. Baker III, the Midtown Alliance creatively engaged with the community to identify strategies and prioritize locations to improve “the comfort, convenience, character, and accessibility of bus stops in Midtown” along West Peachtree & Spring Streets. The proposed design of these stops blend fun and function, reflecting Midtown's diversity and energy. The transformative Juniper Street Streetscape project is currently under construction in Midtown! Identified as a project in Blueprint Midtown, it is funded through Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) dollars specifically allocated for LCI infrastructure projects which improve multi-modal mobility, safety, and connectivity. It is expected to be completed in 2025. ARC is also funding the 10th Street Bridge replacement and the 15th Street extension, which are both in progress. These three projects amount to more than $23 million in LCI TIP funding for Midtown! Join us as ARC celebrates 25 years of transforming communities through the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI). LCIs incentivize local jurisdictions to create exciting, walkable, accessible places. With $357 million invested and more on the horizon, we've impacted more than 133 metro communities since 2000. Follow us for 25 weeks as we highlight LCI success stories. Share pics and memories of your favorite LCI projects using #LCI25. Together, let's shape #OneGreatRegion. #LivableCentersInitiative *Rendering photo courtesy of Midtown Alliance *Public engagement photos courtesy of MKSK & Midtown Alliance
