This past Monday, ATL participated in launching the Atlanta chapter of the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC). The event was sponsored by Atlanta Councilman and Chairman of the Transportation Committee, Byron Amos. Over a hundred people attended and during the kickoff meeting, we were fortunate to hear remarks from former First Lady Mrs. Valarie Jackson. AMAC is the only national, non-profit trade association dedicated to advancing the full participation of minorities and women in employment and contracting opportunities throughout the aviation and aerospace industries.

Eno AirMAX day three has arrived! This morning, our cohort actively engaged with our Infrastructure division, including Planning & Development. After an engaging presentation of ATL’s impressive facilities, the day continued with a tour of one of Hartsfield-Jackson’s biggest projects, the Concourse D expansion modules. EnoAirMAX day two is in full swing! This morning, our cohort had the privilege of hearing from our Administration division, including ATL Workforce, Business Affairs and Government Affairs, Communications, and Community Affairs. The day continued with an insightful visit to our Emergency Command Center, capped off by an engaging presentation from our Finance department. This week at ATL: We hosted our 10th sister airport agreement signing. We were honored to have the distinguished group from Namibia Airport. With this signing, we mark the beginning of collaboration and sharing knowledge. We look forward to all of the innovative ideas that will come from this partnership.

Today marks one week since we said “Farewell” to General Manager Balram “B” Bheodari, A.A.E, IAP as he retired from 22 years of service at ATL.  As leader of the world’s busiest and most efficient airport, Bheodari oversaw all facets of Airport governance, including operations and a multibillion-dollar capital improvement program designed to pave the way for Atlanta’s growth over the next 20 years. His priorities were focused on three strategic pillars: People, Purpose, and Performance. Those pillars encompass a comprehensive safety and security platform, a robust customer experience program, a sustainable enterprise, healthy financial performance, an innovative technology framework, and completion of ATL’s critical capital program on schedule and within budget. As a retired Army aviator, Bheodari navigated ATL through the most challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, from drawdown to resumption of its expansive operations. In early 2009, Bheodari commissioned ATL’s first Operational Readiness and Transition (ORAT) team, which developed and implemented the activation plan for a consolidated Rental Car Center and the ATL SkyTrain automated people mover. Two years later, he expanded the ORAT team and spearheaded the 1.2-million-square-foot Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal opening, accommodating more than 12 million international travelers each year before the pandemic. Yesterday, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) hosted the City of Atlanta CIO, Jason Sankey, and GeorgiaCIO for a behind-the-scenes tour of ATL. The day began with a warm welcome from leadership, followed by insightful presentations. As part of the tour, the group had an opportunity to visit the Concourse D expansion project and the airfield. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) leadership welcomed King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands this past Sunday. The purpose of their visit to the state is to highlight the strong bilateral ties between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the U.S. and its economic relations with Georgia.
