This weekend's political violence underscores the urgent need to come together to address the critical issues facing our communities, including the epidemic of firearm violence and the polarization that divides our nation. The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) stands firmly against all acts of violence, particularly those involving firearms. Firearm violence is a public health crisis that continues to devastate individuals, families, and communities. Moreover, polarization in our nation exacerbates this issue. To address this crisis, public health must continue to foster open and constructive dialogue for peace and reconciliation within our communities. By rebuilding the social network, reconciling our differences, and finding peaceful solutions, we can move towards a safer, healthier, and more united society. People working in health departments all over the country are taking the Governmental Public Health Job Task Survey! The survey closes on July 31 - take it today! The survey is a breeze. It takes between 10 - 30 minutes, and the multiple choice questions ask about the key tasks you perform in your job, as well as how important those tasks are to your work. We need your responses to help us identify the essential functions of the governmental public health workforce and support the creation of tools to improve education, recruitment, and retention across the country.
