  • This past week, ASSET Management Consulting team had the pleasure of speaking with students from the Mayor Marion S. Barry’s Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP) at Eagle Academy in SE Washington, DC. Sponsored by the DC Department of Employment Services, MBSYEP has been nurturing D.C. youth for 45 years. We delved into the critical subjects of real estate, financial literacy, and the importance of understanding that assets ➖ liabilities 🟰 net worth. The sessions included: - Real estate vocabulary
 - Financial literacy basics
 - Live deal calculations
 - Small business presentations These topics are crucial because they are often not taught in school, leaving many without the foundational knowledge needed for financial independence and success. By covering these subjects, we aim to fill this educational gap and empower students with practical skills for their future. A special thanks to the Healthy Babies Project for hosting us. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter, financially secure future. • Have you heard about the ESBI quadrant, created by Robert Kiyosaki, the genius behind “Rich Dad Poor Dad”? It’s a game-changing way to understand how we make money and live our lives.   Employee (E): In this quadrant, individuals work for someone else and earn income through a salary or wages. Employees trade their time and skills for money and typically have limited control over their income and work conditions.   Self-Employed (S): Self-employed individuals work for themselves and own their jobs. They may be freelancers, consultants, or small business owners who are highly involved in the day-to-day operations. While they have more control compared to employees, their income is still directly tied to their personal effort and time.   Business Owner (B): Business owners create systems and hire people to work for them. They own a business that can operate independently of their direct involvement. This quadrant emphasizes building a scalable and sustainable business that generates income through leveraging the efforts of others.   Investor (I): Investors earn income through investments such as stocks, real estate, or other assets. Their money works for them, generating passive income without requiring active involvement. This quadrant focuses on building wealth through strategic investments.   So, where are you in this quadrant? Are you an Employee dreaming of starting your own business? Or maybe you’re Self-Employed and looking to scale up to a Business Owner? Perhaps you’re aiming to become an Investor and let your money grow on its own. Wherever you are, understanding is the most important part to making informed decisions and taking the next step toward financial freedom. • Last week, our founder and CEO, Tessa Edison, had the honor of attending the BOW Collective Capital Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.    She shared that the event was an incredible experience, bringing together visionary leaders and trailblazers committed to empowering exceptional, yet under-resourced community-based businesses. BOW’s 2024 strategy is all about growing through collective capital, contracting, and communication initiatives, and it’s WORKING on numerous fronts!    One of the most impactful discussions for her centered around the mental resilience required to break through the barriers often placed on minority women business owners. The conference emphasized expanding our mindset to realize that we can achieve success and growth far beyond the limitations society imposes. This powerful message resonated deeply, inspiring her to push boundaries and redefine possibilities.    The conference was a powerful reminder of the strength in unity, collaboration, and shared commitment to growth. We are thrilled that our leader is a member of this powerful organization. We are looking forward to her attending more exceptional conferences, advocacy days, capital raise opportunities, and facilitating partnerships. We are sure this foundation will make our firm much stronger as we scale.   Thank you, The BOW Collective, for an inspiring event and for being a dynamic sisterhood that champions empowerment, growth, and collaboration. Together, we are elevating our businesses to new heights! #BOWCollective #Empowerment #Collaboration #CommunityImpact #WomenInBusiness

ASSET Management Consulting is excited to share insights from the recently concluded Move to Millions conference, attended by our founder and CEO, Tessa Edison. This event was a powerful reminder of the importance of business development and strategic planning for sustained success. Here’s a quick recap: Day One: The Millionaire Mindset The first day focused on the essential mental and spiritual principles needed to become a million-dollar CEO. Attendees worked on overcoming fears, imposter syndrome, and self-sabotaging behaviors while aligning their thoughts with their financial goals. Day Two: The Assets On the second day, the emphasis was on critical business assets, including marketing, sales strategies, and systems optimization. Participants received a comprehensive blueprint to help leverage and scale their businesses, laying a strong foundation for substantial financial growth. Day Three: The Legacy The final day tied everything together, focusing on millionaire habits, visibility, impact, and scaling businesses. Panels covered relationships, leadership, HR, PR, and tax strategies, all aimed at maintaining and growing wealth while building a lasting legacy. The conference highlighted key statistics underscoring the importance of strategic business development: • Nearly 20% of new businesses fail during the first two years, 45% during the first five years, and 65% during the first ten years. • Black women-owned businesses are among the fastest-growing segments in the U.S., yet they face significant challenges in access to capital and resources. • Only 4% of Black women-owned businesses survive past the critical five-year mark. These statistics reinforce the necessity for robust business development strategies and continuous learning to navigate and overcome these challenges. We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Darnyelle Jervey Harmon for hosting such an impactful event and to Ticki Favaroth, MBA from HR&Co. for sponsoring our attendance. Your support has been invaluable. AMC is committed to leveraging the knowledge gained from this conference to further empower and support businesses, especially those owned by women and minorities, to achieve lasting success.

  • This National Small Business Week, we at ASSET Management Consulting were honored to participate in the inspiring Women’s Luncheon hosted by Socium Advisors. It was a privilege to be amidst a gathering of remarkable women, each carving their path as entrepreneurs, executives, and leaders in the dynamic DC business scene. The highlight of the event was a captivating discussion led by Michelle Magner, CLU®, ChFC®, CASL®, RICP®, Partner at Socium Advisors. Her words resonated deeply as she shed light on the crucial role of financial awareness in empowering women on their financial journeys. It wasn’t just about earning money; she emphasized the understanding of how to grow and safeguard it for the future. Did you know that nearly 42% of all U.S. businesses are now women-owned? Yet, financial literacy remains a key challenge. The luncheon served as a reminder that financial empowerment is the cornerstone of thriving in business, and surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals can amplify your opportunities tenfold. Share your small business story and join us in celebrating the resilience and success of women entrepreneurs everywhere! #NSBW #NationalSmallBusinessWeek #FinancialEmpowerment #BuildingWealth #SociumAdvisors #DCBusiness Tessa Edison Chanel Bostic
