On the last day of Camp Culture, students learned about North and South Sudan. Asian Center Sudanese Advocates Nyabuoy and Ommohal treated campers to Sudanese donuts. Students learned about the art of henna and chose designs to wear, and each student’s name was written in Arabic characters. At the end of the day, campers’ families joined us for a cultural celebration. They heard highlights of camp adventures and families were invited to share their cultures through traditional clothing and cuisine. What a beautiful way to conclude camp!

Last week, on day 3 of Camp Culture, campers learned about Thailand from the Asian Center’s own Sabrina Salrin, who shared a song and dance about catching crabs in the Thai language. Our friends from El Centro de las Américas came to teach about Mexico, including how to make “papel picado” which is used as decoration during some Mexican holidays. If you're wondering if Camp Culture is a fun and engaging for the kids, just check out the faces of our campers! They has a blast!! 🤩
