Firm principals, Keiji Asakura and Margaret Robinson, have collaborated for over 30 years on urban design, landscape architecture and community planning projects of local, national and international scope. Our firm is highly regarded for designing pedestrian friendly environments which add vibrancy, character and encourage healthful walking within our city. We scrutinize critical pedestrian linkages to campus, local and regional systems, intermodal transportation, and on and off-site destinations. We provide safe and enjoyable outdoor places that encourage exercise and healing. We use best management practices to improve air quality, filter pollutants from water, limit chemicals and cool with vegetative shade. We are dedicated to conserving precious resources through regional and recycled construction materials, rainwater harvesting, native plantings, micro-efficient irrigation systems and scientifically monitored soil health. We assure sustainable construction methods to recycle construction waste, maximize storm water quality and minimize carbon footprints. We explore opportunities for dual use of detention/infrastructure properties as parks and passive open-space systems. Our values include fostering urban wildlife, nature play and environmental education opportunities. We delight in designing sensory, secular gardens and healing gardens with a depth of purpose beyond their beauty. Our firm is thoroughly versed on the USGBC LEED Certification System with a LEED Accredited Professional as Principal and experience with over 25 LEED Registered and Certified projects to date.

Last week, we had an absolute blast at the first annual RDLR Architects fundraiser, co-hosted with Tellepsen at Joystix in downtown Houston! From throwback arcade games to delicious bites and drinks, it was an unforgettable night, all for a cause close to our hearts. 🕹🍔🥂🥰 We were honored to support Finca Tres Robles in their mission to bring health, sustenance, and hope to the East End. 💪🏽🍅🥕🥒 It's moments like these that remind us of the power of community and giving back. 💫💚 What's your favorite way to support local causes? Last month, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting a brilliant group of experts from ten different sectors at our office for an inspiring charrette with the One Health Action Hub! The One Health Action Hub is a coalition of advocates for health equity, biodiversity conservation, environmental justice, and climate resilience. During the event, we explored how to bring One Health solutions to life in Harris County. What’s One Health, you ask? It’s all about recognizing the deep connections between people, animals, plants, and our shared environment.  By applying this holistic framework to projects, programs, and policies, we can achieve optimal health outcomes for all residents - human and wild. Collaboration is key, which means we need multisectoral, transdisciplinary teams to collaborate on planning, design, implementation, and long term management of the built environment. Follow us and stay tuned for more updates on our One Health journey. If you're attending ASLA national, be sure to catch Isabelle and Andrew's presentation on October 7th at 2:30 PM: One Health for Whom? Exploring Diversity and Disparity through Data and Design! #AsakuraRobinson #OneHealth #CollaborateForChange #SustainableFuture

We were thrilled to attend the Pasadena City Plaza Groundbreaking Ceremony!  🌿✨ Our design for the new plaza will create a welcoming space, improving walkability between the Pasadena Municipal Courthouse and the Police Department. With features like a rain garden and educational signage, the plaza will enhance pedestrian safety and foster community connections. 💚💫 We’re so excited to help create a vibrant, accessible space that encourages socializing, interaction, and a stronger bond between the police department and the community. Follow us and stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!  Special thanks to: Binkley Barfield, @binkleybarfield City of Pasadena, @cityofpasadena #AsakuraRobinson #CommunityDesign #PasadenaTX #GreenSpaces

Welcome to Houston's Fifth Ward's latest addition, Japhet Creek Park 🌳✨! Last week the community came together to celebrate this park's ribbon-cutting ceremony with live music, food, and family-friendly fun. Japhet Creek Park is just the beginning of Buffalo Bayou Partnership's 10-year plan to revitalize the historically underserved communities in Fifth Ward and the Great East End. Asakura Robinson is proud to be a part of this tremendous effort to create equitable green spaces where people can come together and thrive. 🔍Save for later to learn! 📚🌆 Ever heard of a woonerf? Originating in Europe, these shared streets are now popping up across the US, creating walkable cities where cars, cyclists, and pedestrians coexist safely. 🚶♀️🚴♂️🚗 The best part? You can incorporate Low Impact Development strategies into their design! Imagine native plant-filled paths, thoughtful paver choices, and drainage systems working together to reduce flooding and manage stormwater — all while bringing beauty and function to urban life! #woonerf #planning #urbandesign
