As always, I love the opportunities Army West Point Esports provides. This week U.S. Army Esports came to United States Military Academy at West Point. I had the privilege to talk to two female “old grads”, one of whom graduated Ranger School this year. Both women were inspiring in their presence and their passion. As I look into my future in the military, I look to those before me who have walked the path. Thank you Victor L. Castro for ensuring that this opportunity made it into my schedule during a busy first week of school.

Mentorship through Esports. Gradually, a pathway for individuals will begin to solidify within the scope of competitive gaming or Esports. Listen to the perspective of LTC (R) Stan Murphy as he answers questions about his role as the Senior Army Instructor for the YMLA, JROTC out of FT Worth, TX Emphasis is on the character traits being developed through the focus on competition and through this, they were able to experience their possible future profession in the US Army From middle school to high school to college and possibly to the pros, #esports is becoming a proven pathway. Anyone believe in the future of esports? United States Military Academy at West Point does! I was fortunate enough to tour the facilities last week and the amount of support is tremendous. Led by Victor L. Castro, the Army West Point Esports team has shown exponential growth in the last few years, even securing a sponsorship with USAA. A modernized way to compete has led to an increased interest in virtual simulations for military instruction and a new way to market to prospective cadets. Best of all, Army beat Navy and Air Force this year. I wish I was able to experience this when I graduated, but I'm glad to help those experience it now. I'll be donating to the West Point Association of Graduates through their #WestPointChallenge2024. Although West Point is funded by the government for major expenses such as academics, military training and room and board, private-sector gifts play a crucial role in supporting additional opportunities for cadets. Primarily extracurricular activities like the esports team!

West Point Leadership in Ethics And Diversity in STEM (LEADS) conference in Chicago welcomed hundered of middle school and high school students at the UL Research UL Research Institutes. The conference is organized with a purpose to develop STEM competent leaders of character and expose them to STEM career opportunities with United States Military Academy at West Point and hosted in multiple cities across the country where students get first hand training from cadets to superintendent Steve Gilland. The highlights of the event were West Point Esport team presentation and Vex Robotics Robotics activity. A huge shout to West Point office of diversity Lisa Benitez Amos Maldonado, UL team Dr. Charlotte Farmer and founder of the program Pat Locke Walker for organizing it and allowing me to volunteer.
