Inspire, educate, and engage curious minds through science.

About us

Arizona Science Center has a rich history of exploration, innovation and collaboration. Beginning as a community project of The Junior League of Phoenix in 1980, the Center has established itself as a major institution of learning for families, teachers and students and other guests. Over three decades, with substantial help from the citizens of Phoenix and years of focused content and program development, the Center has grown to serve over a half million guests annually, of which nearly 140,000 are school children. The continued growth of the Center and its close connection with the Arizona community provides a unique experience for everyone it reaches. Using an informal, hands-on approach to science exploration and inspiration the Center has more than 164,000 square-feet of space, of which 98,000 is dedicated to the exploration of our guests. Additional learning opportunities and services include outreach programs, focused field trips, camps, classes, to-the-moon and beyond presentation in the Dorrance Planetarium, immersive shows in the 5-story Irene P. Flinn Theater and featured exhibitions.

Arizona Science Center's Senior Director for Rural Engagement, Kal Mannis, had a great time with Arizona Library Association yesterday impacting librarians from Florence, Cibique, San Carlos and University of Arizona! They discussed STEAM activities that can be activated within libraries, including how to create a visual lesson on an environmental issue, storytelling through found items and story cubes, and upcycling materials to create art.

Calling all Teens! Don't miss Arizona Science Center's next Teen Tech IRL on November 2 as we explore innovative solutions to Earth's e-waste issue. As technological advancements have met consumerism, electronic waste (or e-waste) has become one of Earth’s fastest-growing waste streams in the world. Not only does e-waste take up land mass, it also introduces health risks due to dangerous chemicals if not properly disposed of. So, what can we do about it? The next generation of innovators is invited to Arizona Science Center’s next Teen Tech IRL, centered around this very issue! Teens in grades 9-12 will begin the day exploring the implications of this issue, then will be put into groups with the goal to design and prototype their new solutions. At the end of the day, teams will present their projects to a panel of judges for the chance to win exciting prizes. Lunch is included. Learn more and register today at azscience.org/teens
