Alongside more than 100 exhibitors, AzCHER was on hand to educate community partners in fire and EMS about our work to build resilience in the healthcare delivery system. • 👩⚕️Last week, the Arizona Transition to Practice Program had a site visit at Whiteriver Indian Hospital, one of the program’s participating facilities. Karen Ofafa, MPH, BSN, RN, CSSBB, CPHQ, director, Transition to Practice Program at AzHHA, spent time meeting with the chief nursing officer, site champion, unit leaders, preceptors and new graduate nurses at the facility to discuss current progress and provide recommendations. 📢What is an example of how Whiteriver Indian Hospital is benefiting from the Arizona Transition to Practice Program? It is addressing a gap for them; they do not have a respiratory team in-house but see a lot of pediatric patients with respiratory issues. Providing them with a curriculum that includes clinical skills and a procedure library where they can look up pediatric skills will be impactful for them. Applications are being accepted for future cohorts. Learn more and apply: https://lnkd.in/g5NAJtrc

  • 👩⚕️Not only does the Arizona Transition to Practice Program provide new graduate nurses with the structure they need to be successful; the participating facilities also receive customized support and training. Last month, Karen Ofafa, MPH, BSN, RN, CSSBB, CPHQ, director, Transition to Practice Program at AzHHA, spent time at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center, one of the program’s participating facilities. This visit allowed Karen to meet with the chief nursing officer, site champion and all program participants at the facility to discuss current progress and provide recommendations. The meeting also offered feedback on the program, including this statement from Joy Peery, BSN, RN, chief nursing officer: “As the chief nursing officer of a rural hospital, I am thrilled by the success of the 1804 grant. This funding has been instrumental in supporting our new graduate nurses, providing them with support, resources and training necessary to help them transition smoothly into their new role in healthcare. We are seeing the structured mentorship and professional development opportunities as having a great effect on their confidence and overall competence level. The grant is truly helping transform our hospital, and I am deeply grateful for the positive impact it is having on our patients and staff, and ultimately, the larger impact it will have on our community.” Interested in learning more about this program?
