  • What a historic day! 🎉 17 organizations come together establishing the South Asian Middle Eastern North African (SAMENA) Collective. AACC is a proud member of SAMENA, which had its official kick-off launch and press conference on Friday 7/19. Our 17 member organizations came together to ensure our communities receive the recognition, resources, and representation they rightfully deserve. United, SAMENA will work to advance equity, representation, and enhance the quality of life for the SAMENA community in Orange County. 🌍✨ During the press conference, AACC Policy & Research Coordinator Amin Nash presented the key findings of the SAMENA survey results. In May 2024, SAMENA conducted a survey to assess service status and community needs, focusing on service utilization, demographics, immigration, education, housing, economic status, health, and civil rights. Data from 13 organizations covering 49,889 clients revealed significant insights. The findings underscore the need for stronger partnerships with SAMENA organizations to better serve the community’s diverse needs. Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gx8nZZrT

  • Last Saturday we were honoured to lead a workshop titled “From Nakba to Neighbourhood: Resilience and Resistance in Little Arabia” at the Anaheim Young People’s Town Hall hosted by Chispa. It was more than just an event—it was a convergence of ideas and actions. They brought together community leaders, organizations, and young people to discuss pressing issues, learn from our city's radical history, and collaborate on actionable solutions.

  • We joined dozens of activists and community leaders from across the country at this year’s Arab American Advocacy Days in the nation’s capital to advocate on issues impacting Arab Americans. We advocated for health equity for Arab Americans, protecting our voting rights, proper implementation of the MENA category, justice for Palestinians, and more. Thanks to the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) for brining us together and organizing these advocacy days.

  • 23 Santa Ana high school students experienced Little Arabia for the first time yesterday on a tour that began a few miles outside of the district at the Islamic Society of Orange County. Students stopped at Jarir Bookstore, Altayebat Market, Kareem’s Falafel, Forn Al Hara, Fresh Nuts, House of Mandi, Little Arabia Restaurant, and checked out the Hijabi Queen mural ✌🏽
