🚀 Fund tokenization, the third revolution in asset management, offers the potential to create billions of dollars in value for both financial institutions and end investors, according to the latest whitepaper, “𝐓𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐝,” co-developed by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Aptos Labs, and Invesco Ltd. Key insights include: 🌍 Fund tokenization is an industry-wide movement across numerous global asset managers. In late 2024, tokenized funds had already garnered more than $2 billion in assets under management (AUM). ⚡By enabling near-instant transactions, unlocking liquidity, and reducing operational friction, fund tokenization could generate about $100 billion in additional annual investment return for mutual fund investors, while creating new revenue streams for financial institutions. 📈 Mirroring the rise of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), tokenized fund AUM could reach 1% of global mutual fund and ETF AUM in just seven years. This would imply AUM of more than $600 billion by 2030. We believe there could be an inflection point for tokenized funds in the next 12–18 months, and that wealth and asset managers should act swiftly to seize the opportunity. While early movers have already achieved some success, the establishment of regulatory guidelines, global standards, and technological enablers will be critical to creating a solid foundation for a frictionless, globally interconnected industry.
