    Jack Buice, CPA, a longtime member of the Tax team based in Reno, is well-known across the team for his thoughtfulness, willingness to participate, and reliability. As a Tax Manager, Jack is instrumental in our reporting and compliance workstreams while keeping abreast of new tax considerations in the industry.   𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐚𝐱?   I attended the University of Nevada at Reno, intending to go into some type of accounting. I jumped into a career in tax after college, and I achieved my CPA license in 2010!   𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧?   We’re a big football family (Go, Cowboys!) I have volunteered my weekends for the last 20 years to help coach the local high school football team. This year, my son will be on the team I’m helping coach!   𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐮𝐧?   My wife and I have a yearly tradition of attending the BottleRock music festival in Napa. It blends food, wine, and great music. Last year’s highlight was seeing Nelly and T-Pain!

    At April Housing, we know how important it is to build community within our teams. To celebrate hitting a major milestone last week, our Tax team in Reno spent the afternoon axe throwing. They split up into teams for some friendly competition, blowing off steam and enjoying spending time together outside of the office!

    Our CEO Alice Carr and Head of Preservation Perica Bell are on the cover of the latest Commercial Observer talking about our work preserving the affordability of our portfolio while also delivering improvements that will directly benefit our residents. I’ve spent my whole life in San Diego County, graduating from San Diego State University with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. Nowadays, I visit my alma mater to mentor with the Career Services department, helping young adults craft their resumes, prepare for interviews, and think about career paths.”   𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞?   “My wife and I share a passion for horses. I make time each month to ride “Beans,” a Pinto horse I’ve bonded with at my local stable.     Yesterday, our Los Angeles office took to the streets for an afternoon of team building, working together to complete a scavenger hunt around Downtown LA. The teams explored Downtown’s unique architecture and learned about the rich history that is hidden right in our backyard. At April, we know how important it is to foster collaboration and camaraderie within our team!
