Small Presence, Big Impact Nuclear energy has one of the smallest footprints of any energy source. According to energy.gov, “An average nuclear power plant requires about 1.3 square miles per 1,000 megawatts of energy,” and with new investments and advances in technology, they’re getting even smaller. Part of what enables nuclear infrastructure to be minimal is that its fuel is extremely dense. One uranium pellet is roughly the size of a gummy bear, and packs around the same amount of energy as a ton of coal, 120 gallons or oil, or 17,000 cubic feet of natural gas.  #NuclearEnergy #CleanEnergy #Energy

🌟 Vistra CEO Jim Burke and Chief Executive Officer at Vistra Corp emphasizes the essential role of nuclear power in achieving a low-carbon future. In a recent discussion, he highlighted that nuclear power is crucial for providing consistent 24/7 low-carbon energy, a necessity that current renewable fleets can't fully meet. Nuclear must be part of the solution, with over 20 companies innovating in nuclear tech. Licensing and investor confidence are key challenges.🔋 Watch the video to learn more! President Joe Biden has signed the ADVANCE Act into law, a significant step forward for deploying advanced nuclear reactors. This bipartisan legislation aims to streamline permitting, provide more resources to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and promote global deployment. With this support, we can expect faster development and adoption of innovative nuclear technologies, ensuring energy reliability, national security, and environmental protection. A major leap towards a clean energy future!🔋🙌 Президент Байден подписал закон ADVANCE Act, который стал значительным шагом вперед в деле внедрения передовых ядерных реакторов. #NuclearEnergy #CleanEnergy #Innovation #Sustainability #EnergyTransition Read here: https://lnkd.in/dfs8Wgns

Small modular reactors are advanced nuclear reactors that have a power capacity of up to 300 MW(e) per unit, which is about one-third of the generating capacity of traditional nuclear power reactors. SMRs, which can produce a large amount of low-carbon electricity, are: ➡ Small: physically a fraction of the size of a conventional nuclear power reactor. ➡ Modular: making it possible for systems and components to be factory-assembled and transported as a unit to a location for installation. ➡ Reactors: harnessing nuclear fission to generate heat to produce energy. atoms.iaea.org/3vFf0M7
