Last Friday was #PaperBagDay. A simple change from plastic to paper is one step to a more sustainable future. Our actions matter, and replacing plastic bags is just a start. We're excited to work with the nonprofit ExtraFood, a sustainable food rescue program out of the Bay Area, to recover and distribute fresh, healthy food that would otherwise go to waste. Saving more food and having less waste are eco-friendly ways to address food insecurity, and social determinants of health, and build renewable habits. Maternal health outcomes are at a decline in the US, due to a lack of coordinated maternal care. It was months in the making and it is finally here. Introducing our first-ever health clinic located in Whittier, CA, in partnership with Astrana Health and exclusively serving Anthem members. In celebration of our new beginning, Anthem and Astrana Health leaders were joined by California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Whittier Mayor Joseph Vinatieri, 49th District Assemblymember Mike Fong and other community members at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday. Our clinic, located at 11236 Whittier Blvd, offers preventive care and health assessment services to members of both Allied IPA and Anthem, with same-day appointments available. As an active resource in the local community, we're looking forward to meeting our Whittier members where they are with quality, coordinated care. This June 30th was our Anthem Title Night for the Oakland Soul home game. As the Title sponsor, we handed out exclusive Anthem/Soul co-branded sunglass retainers to gameday attendees. Since it was also Soul's Mental Health Night, we distributed mental health resources at our Anthem booth to support the wellbeing of fans and spectators. Not to mention our very own Matthew McCormick - Regional Managing Director at Anthem - was in attendance and honored with participating in the Starting XI photo with the team. Congratulations to Oakland Soul Sports Club for coming out with the win that night and hosting their first playoff game in franchise history this July 5th. Here's to many more victories on and off the pitch.

We recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of our new Kern County Community Welcome Center in Bakersfield. Bakersfield Mayor Karen Goh and other local community leaders helped us to unveil the new center and participated in a tour showcasing the innovative solutions, resources and support services that will be offered, including a digital-first approach to serving community members. Our new center will serve as a one-stop-shop for a wide range of information and resources, as part of our longstanding commitment to being available and accessible as a lifetime trusted health partner.
