today is the day!! amika's Rooted in Growth grant mentorship program applications are now open!! amika has always championed diversity and inclusivity—but as we grew increasingly aware of the inequities within the beauty industry, we knew we needed to do even more to close the gap in the beauty and professional hair business and beyond. that’s why we launched the rooted in growth startup grant program in 2023. we’re going bigger and better this year: we’re doubling our impact funding 4 emerging haircare founders each with $50,000 paired with 4-month of mentorship program networking opportunities with the amika team, and other hair beauty industry leaders. Apply today or share with your favorite haircare founders! https://lnkd.in/dj8cCt8p #rootedingrowth #amika #lifeatamika #increasingequity #mentorship #equity

thanks to Celia Shatzman at Forbes for this amazing feature on our latest launch of volumizing products: big hit shampoo conditioner and rising star volumizing finishing spray! "As you age, you're losing moisture and lipids—there's oxidative stress that's happened to the hair. You either have dry scalp or your hair is more brittle, so using traditional volume products is going to have the opposite effect, especially for more mature hair where you still want volume. When we looked at developing Big Hit, we challenged ourselves to have technology that would create that same effect, but something that was on the hair itself as opposed to lifting the cuticles to do that. Having that technology with lightweight moisture gives you a foundation you can then build on.” - Chelsea Riggs read more on Forbes: bit.ly/3zELqZc

a true hair-story 👑 🧡 just under half of the states in the US don’t protect against race-based hair discrimination in the workplace. the crown act would change that. we recognize that our reach extends far beyond your shower shelves, so to bring awareness to this legislation inspired by The CROWN Act, we held a panel discussion to hear perspectives hair-stories from different women in different industries, one of whom was new york assemblywoman Michaelle Solages (she/her) ✨ 📣 a massive thank you to our other panelists: professional hairstylist stylist collective member Yene Damtew (she/her) amika HR business partner Malika Maule (she/her) and our Director of DEI Social Impact esteemed moderator, Gianne D. (she/her)! head to the link below to sign the petition to get #thecrownact passed in all 50 states of the US! sign here: https://lnkd.in/dpdbAxd

amika 🧡s pride! nothing could rain on our parade (literally): it was hot rainy but the amika team showed up showed out while walking the NYC pride parade!  we handed out 2,000 perk up plus samples to new old friends along the parade route. who doesn't love connecting IRL? why did we take part in pride? because amika means friend we take that seriously with our mane-motto: all hair ( all humans) are welcome 🌈 #lifeatamika #NYCPride #Pride2024"
