Meet ARIA’s 2024-2029 Senior Arbitration Board! ⚖️📗🗺️ 📍Samira Sulejmanovic | Head of Department for Bilateral Trade Relations, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina 🚀 Samira Sulejmanovic is a Head of the Department for Bilateral Trade Relations in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Even though originally a trade negotiator, the investment treaties became part of her portfolio ever since she had taken over Department at the end of 2010. She has been very active in the investment treaties’ reform process and advocated the need to rethink the policy objectives particularly on a national level. Special emphasis of her effort were out on establishing a critical level of awareness and pursuing joint action among countries in the Western Balkans region and contributing multilateral work and debate under the auspices of various international fora. Almost a decade long process of reform of the national policy reflected in investment treaties of Bosnia and Herzegovina is among Samira’s major professional achievements in the recent time. Meet ARIA’s 2024-2029 Senior Arbitration Board! ⚖️📗🗺️ 📍Patricia Saiz | Arbitrator, SAIZ Arbitration 🚀 Prof. Patricia Saiz is a faculty member at Esade Law School, where she teaches investment and commercial arbitration. She is also a professor at the MIDS and a lecturer at Columbia Law School’s U.S. Business Law Academy. As arbitrator and counsel, she has handled arbitrations under many of the major arbitral rules (such as ICSID, ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL) and in a broad range of sectors (including energy, construction & engineering, M&A, corporate, finance, insurance, technology, among others). She is also a member of the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC. Before becoming an arbitrator and professor of law based in Spain in 2014, she practiced in the United States for more than 10 years, and she is licensed to practice in New York, Washington DC and Spain. Additionally, before turning to arbitration, she practiced as a tax lawyer for seven years. Her transactional and tax planning background gives her a unique insight into the inbound and outbound structuring of investments, contractual risk allocation, and damages calculations.
