About us

Alliance member societies represent nearly 8 million individuals, making it one of America’s largest member-volunteer networks. Each year members of fraternal benefit societies invest more than 75 million hours in community works and contribute more than $486 million to charitable programs supporting community service projects. Fraternal benefit societies provide financial services, including life insurance and annuities, as well as a variety of other benefits such as scholarships, educational programs, vocational opportunities, and group discount programs to members.

  • The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene across multiple states is truly heartbreaking. In times like these, fraternal benefit societies demonstrate their commitment to disaster relief, supporting both their members and communities in need. In Tennessee, Modern Woodmen of America representatives stepped up to help—providing meals to first responders and displaced families. They, along with many other fraternal societies, are embodying what it means to #LiveFraternally: being there when it matters most. We are proud to see fraternals in action, bringing hope and support during these darkest times.

  • Alliance CEO Allison Koppel always finds creative ways to celebrate our incredible members, and this year’s Executive Summit was no exception! 🎉 During the event, we honored our fraternal leaders with an engaging, interactive game that sparked connections and showcased the diversity of experiences in the room. Executives participated by standing up or raising a green card if they aligned with a series of thought-provoking questions. One of our favorite moments was seeing how many new executives and younger leaders were joining us for the first time. 🌟 Our sector is filled with talented, purpose-driven professionals, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work alongside each and every one of them. Here’s to building strong connections and an even stronger future together! 🤝✨

  • We were honored to host Teresa (Terry) Rasmussen and Patrick Kelly to the stage at the Executive Summit for a powerful discussion about the role of fraternal benefit societies in communities across the country. Thank you Terry and Patrick for sharing your wisdom and time with the group and inspiring us to #livefraternally.

I had the honor of speaking at the American Fraternal Alliance's Executive Summit alongside Patrick Kelly of the Knights of Columbus. We highlighted the significant role that fraternal benefit societies play in serving our communities and providing financial security. In 2023 alone, fraternal members volunteered over 51 million service hours and contributed $642 million to causes across the U.S. It's inspiring to see how our purpose-driven approach resonates with the younger generation and their desire to partner with businesses that make a difference. Proud to be part of an industry that prioritizes community and mobilizes millions to give back and support those in need. #TeamThrivent #FraternalBenefitSocieties #PurposeDriven

While in DC for the American Fraternal Alliance's annual Executive Summit, our team, together with other fraternal executives, expressed our gratitude towards fraternal champions from the House of Representatives and the Senate for their ongoing support. They had meaningful conversations highlighting the community-forward work we have done this year such as our partnership with U.S. Hunger to pack 150,000 meal kits, playground builds with KABOOM! events and our ongoing investment in community granting. We are proud to be part of the Alliance and to have leaders who advocate for the essential role fraternal life insurers play in the financial ecosystem.

  • “Fraternal benefit societies are deeply rooted in the fabric of our nation. For centuries, they’ve made an impact by living out their core principles of membership, community and volunteerism. I’m glad to offer my continued support to this vital part of the financial sector and honored to accept this award.” - Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) The Alliance gathered fraternal executives in Washington, D.C., this past week with a key mission: to express our gratitude to fraternal champions like Senator Grassley. His steadfast support underscores the unique value fraternal benefit societies bring to communities across the nation. We are incredibly thankful to have leaders who recognize and advocate for the essential role fraternal life insurers play in our financial ecosystem. https://lnkd.in/gZw8zhKH Stay tuned to see more of the work we achieved together during our time in DC. #LiveFraternally
