E-cigarette use among youth has reached epidemic levels in the United States. ⚠️ According to the National Youth Tobacco Survey, e-cigarette use increased by 78% among high school students and nearly 50% among middle school students from 2017 to 2018. In 2018 alone, over 3.6 million youth in the U.S. were current e-cigarette users. Nicotine exposure during adolescence can harm brain development, affecting learning, memory, and attention. Additionally, youth who use e-cigarettes are more likely to smoke regular cigarettes in the future and face a higher risk of addiction to other drugs.
