🚀 Exciting Milestone: Alpine Space Ventures Closes First Fund at EUR 170 Million! We're thrilled to announce the closing of the largest first time fund dedicated to space globally! Focused to grow the ecosystem in Europe and the United States, our fund targets startups within the entire value chain to provide connectivity and data solutions. "We are very much aligned with what SpaceX has done, and we are investing in the wake of it," states Bulent Altan. We aim to empower companies that are building on the opportunities created by the 800-pound gorilla in the room without directly competing with it. “That’s something that you only can do with this type of team,” said Joram Voelklein in the interview with Aria Alamalhodaei. A big thanks to the whole team for making this happen Christina Kotzur, CFA, Lynn Zoenen, Catriona Chambers, Sven Meyer-Brunswick. Let's go K2 Space Corporation, Reflex Aerospace, Blackwave GmbH, Morpheus Space, Source Energy and the other five to ten portfolio companies that are still to come! ⚡ Flashback to the panel "Space Force: the Next Frontier?" at Tholus Capital's Defence Innovation Night a few weeks back in Berlin: 🛰️ At the panel discussion our Founding Partner, Joram Voelklein, highlighted the urgent need for Europe to advance its space defense capabilities. As warfare transitions from a competition of platforms to a competition of integrated networks, space has become a pivotal domain of dominance, essential for comprehensive defense strategies. While the U.S. has established its United States Space Force recognizing the critical role of space in national security, Europe must bolster its space defense to fix a significant vulnerability in this increasingly contested domain. Thank you to the other panelists Michel Friedling (Gen. R.) of Look Up Space, Stanislas Maximin of Latitude, Alexander Genzel of Reflex Aerospace, Daniel Kleinmann of Balerion Space Ventures, and Charles Beigbeder of Expansion for an important discussion and to Dr. Markus Federle and Markus Bihler for hosting such an important event during these critical times. #SpaceTech #DeepTech #DefenseTech #DualUse

Nearly one year ago, we closed on our inaugural €1 billion fund. Today, we are delighted to share our first investments in innovative technologies developed in countries across the NATO Alliance. These investments - across AI, space tech, manufacturing, transportation and robotics - mark our first steps towards advancing defence, security and resilience. We’re proud to be supporting ambitious founders, who are developing cutting-edge solutions to some of the world’s most critical challenges: 🚀 Space Forge is pushing the boundaries of manufacturing by using the conditions in space to make materials, while ensuring that supply chains for Europe’s critical infrastructure are protected. 🛫 iCOMAT is revolutionising the trillion-dollar transportation industry, from air to ground to space, making travel more energy efficient, faster and cheaper through the manufacturing of lightweight materials. 🤖 ARX Robotics is deploying robotic systems to enhance the protection and training of armed forces, and can help improve the security and efficiency of critical infrastructure. 💻 Fractile is developing fundamental computing technology that will enhance collective AI capabilities by enabling Large Language Models to run faster, more efficiently and sustainably. We’re also delighted to support a diverse group of fund managers, including: - Alpine Space Ventures, an early-stage fund bringing over 50 years of space industry expertise to empower select startups to deliver key space-enabled capabilities. - OTB Ventures, an early growth fund originating from Central Europe, investing in spacetech, enterprise automation & AI, cybersecurity, and fintech infrastructure. - JOIN CAPITAL, a Berlin-based early stage venture capital focused on deep tech investments across industrial and enterprise tech. - Vsquared Ventures, which invests in early stage deep tech companies, whose groundbreaking technologies can address some of society’s most pressing challenges across AI & next-gen software, energy transition, new computing and sensing, new space, robotics and manufacturing, and tech-bio. Being at the forefront of technological innovation is key to building a safe and prosperous future for the Alliance’s citizens. We look forward to seeing what our portfolio companies achieve, and how they will contribute to this mission. Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/eNxe2Gix #deeptech #startups

Today's highlights from HTGF | High-Tech Gründerfonds Family Day 2024 in Berlin: 📢 Our Founding Partner, Bulent Altan, took the stage to highlight the generational opportunity in the space industry and emphasize Europe's strategic advantage due to its untapped talent pool. 🛡️ His keynote was preceded by an inspirational talk from Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz of the Luftwaffe - German Airforce, stressing the critical need for tight collaboration between the public and private sectors during times of heightened geopolitical tension. 🎤 Another highlight was a panel featuring Major General Michael Traut of the German Space Command, Rafaela Kraus from Universität der Bundeswehr München, Walter Ballheimer of Reflex Aerospace, Sebastian Klaus of ATMOS Space Cargo, and Christian Ziach of HTGF. They discussed the indispensable role of space in our daily lives, with Major General Traut detailing his mission to ensure the safety and protection of commercial, civil, and military space operations, alongside examples of how space technologies are integrated across industries, from agriculture to biotech. While these insights may not be new to industry insiders, the broader societal relevance of space operations remains underappreciated. We are committed to continuing our efforts to raise awareness among fellow investors and the wider public. #HTGFFamilyDay2024 #SpaceTech #DeepTech #DualUse #Venture
