Celebrating spooky season with a little game of “What’s in the box?” with The Flock. We wanted to include a bucket of worms, but HR told us no. This isn’t a regular sustainability report. It’s a COOL sustainability report. So cool, in fact, that we gave it its very own name: Allbirds’s Flight Status, a jaunty run-down of our latest developments. If you want to dig into the details, big, beautiful charts await within. But if you’re more of a Spark Notes sorta person, last year, we:  – Reduced our per unit carbon footprint by 22%, compared to 2022, thanks in part to a packaging facelift (7%) and more renewable energy (2%).  – Completed B Corp certification for the third time, earning an overall score of 96.5, representing an 18% increase since our first certification. – Continued our work to reduce virgin petroleum-based materials, and replace them with natural or recycled alternatives. While we’d love to stay and chat, there’s actually much more work still to be done, so we’re gonna get back to it… Same time next year?

As much as we’d LOVE to write a LinkedIn post, we’re reeeaalllly busy welcoming a new addition to our team. That’s none other than Erin Sander, who joins Allbirds as Vice President of Product Merchandising. Erin brings nearly two decades of expertise in merchandising, product and business strategy from the likes of SOREL and Keen. While that’s all plenty impressive, what especially wowed us was Erin’s first job as a Y.M.C.A. camp counselor. Even more impressive still is Erin’s other job title – mom to a toddler and 10-year-old twins – and the fact that she still finds time to read, bike, go to yoga, and generally run circles around us. (No, we don’t know how she does it all.) Erin, we’re thrilled to have you on board, and we’re so looking forward to the Y.M.C.A. ‘Welcome’ flash mob happening Friday. Oh, shoot, maybe we weren’t supposed to mention that…

Coincidentally, we’re looking to add one to our Flock. … Admittedly, they won’t be responsible for LinkedIn posts. (Guess you’re stuck with this subpar content a little while longer.) But they WILL be tasked with creating and owning processes for identifying product defects, and maintaining compliance by mapping suppliers and material certifications.
