Mission: All Hands and Hearts effectively and efficiently addresses the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. We communicate directly with local leaders and community members and then deploy our unique model of engaging volunteers to enable direct impact, helping to build safer, more resilient schools, homes and infrastructure. Vision: Through community and volunteer engagement, we aim to help families recover faster after natural disasters using our "smart response" strategy and by rebuilding in a disaster resilient way we prepare them for future disasters and, through the process, strengthen communities Our Story: The lives of Co-founders Petra Nemcova and David Campbell were changed forever by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. David Campbell heard about the devastating tsunami and jumped on a plane to offer his extensive expertise gained as a former CEO of BBN Technologies, ultimately starting what is now All Hands Volunteers in 2005. Petra Nemcova herself was swept away by the tsunami and survived by clinging to a tree for eight hours. This experience led to the establishment of the Happy Hearts Fund in 2005. In the Fall of 2017, these two organizations announced the merger to form All Hands and Hearts - Smart Response. In Brazil, we've been mucking, gutting and sanitizing houses affected by severe flooding. We've been supporting the Central Voluntária de Distribuição (CVD) in preparing over 20,000 meals and sorting donated items for individuals and families displaced or returning to their homes. Our program in the Philippines is in full swing, focusing on rebuilding an elementary school to support education in Mahayag. Since May, volunteers have been working to install Cement Bamboo Frame Technology (CBFT) at the school, an innovative and sustainable construction system. Our Female Mason Training Program has welcomed four women from the local community, who are being trained in construction skills while supporting the school's rebuilding. Volunteer in Carriacou and receive a round trip flight! We've opened a volunteer application for those who want to assist on the island of Carriacou, where nearly 100% of the population has been impacted by Hurricane Beryl. Many have lost their homes and are overwhelmed by the extensive cleanup required. Working closely with other organizations and local officials, we plan to launch a program focusing on debris removal. Volunteers who can commit to 2 weeks or more are eligible for round trip travel. A big thank you to Airlink, Inc. for their timely support in getting our team on the ground! In Texas, we are currently responding by assessing immediate needs on the ground to provide essential supplies, such as Lasko Products dehumidifiers. We are working with partners to distribute these supplies while continuing to evaluate the situation to identify additional ways we can assist. We arrived in Poland in October 2022 to support Ukrainian refugees following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. From renovating shelters and community centers to facilitating English-speaking clubs, our team worked alongside Polish people and organizations to provide tailored support.
