It's time to look at things from a new angle. 🔍 Quantum computing's promise is one of unmatched compute power. With a fault tolerant quantum computer one may run operations that would otherwise take millennia. But as we edge closer to this frontier, a crucial question arises: can we achieve so without a massive energy footprint? ⚡️ We’re teaming up with Quandela, EDF, and CNRS on a unprecedented project to find out. 🤝 Yes, quantum computers could crunch certain problems with exponentially fewer steps than classical computers, but this doesn't always mean they're low on energy demand. We need to be intentional about designing quantum tech that’s energy-efficient right from the start. In this ambitious project, OECQ (Optimisation Energetique des Circuits Quantiques), we will begin by estimating the energy consumption of our quantum computers on industry use cases. Then, we’ll roll up our sleeves to develop new, energy-efficient quantum hardware. Our goal? Showcase a reduction in the energy footprint of our quantum chips by the project’s end. Building the first fault-tolerant quantum computer is one of this century's greatest technological challenges. Doing so responsibly is essential. 🌍 For more info, tap here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eyXjcqW6 #QuantumComputing #EnergyEfficiency #TechInnovation

Out of the many challenges scientists face on the way to creating a Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computer, one thing just got easier. 🥳 The resource estimation. 🤔 What is it? Simply put, the resource estimator is like a crystal ball 🔮 for quantum algorithms. It helps us predict how many physical qubits and how much time we'll need to run complex quantum programs, given a target architecture. 🚀 Enhanced flexibility Up until recently, performing resource estimations on cat qubits had to be done by hand. This is how we showed that cat qubits may run Shor's algorithm using 200x fewer qubits. But because not everyone can dedicate a couple of months of a brilliant scientist's time to compute what their savings might be, we thought it was time to automate things a bit. Microsoft's Azure Quantum Resource Estimator was already working for the most common architectures, based on well-studied but resource-hungry surface codes. We collaborated with their team to help develop the API that supports Alice & Bob’s cat qubits. This means that in the months long process of developing a quantum algorithm, the resource estimation part now only takes seconds instead of days. Talk about a time saver! ⏱️ ⚙️ How does it work? The Azure Quantum Resource Estimator crunches numbers based on inputs like Q# code, or logical qubit and gate counts, and outputs optimal working parameters and necessary resources. For a more detailed explanation, take a look at our drawing below (don’t worry, we haven’t switched to chemistry… yet). 📚 Want to know more? Check out this blog post written by Mathias Soeken from Microsoft and Élie Gouzien from Alice & Bob: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/efJwWm-D Plus, you can even test it out yourself — it's open source, after all! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ezycfkC9 #QuantumComputing #ResourceEstimator

🐱 *Feline* good about our new partnership ⬇️ By now, you all know Alice & Bob’s innovative #CatQubits are protected from bit-flips. This however, is only a part of the journey to build a robust quantum computer. Error correction, addressing cat qubits phase-flip errors in real-time, is essential for scaling to millions and eventually trillions of reliable quantum operations. This is where Alice & Bob and Riverlane are partnering to pioneer error correction together. With the world's most powerful quantum error decoder, Riverlane will help our #QuantumComputer achieve precise and reliable operations. 💪 Solving the complicated problem of #ErrorCorrection requires complementary expertise. By joining forces with the right allies, the journey to fault-tolerant quantum computing becomes achievable. Welcome aboard Riverlane! 🎉 🔗Click to discover more: https://lnkd.in/e4qdQXn9 #FaultTolerantQuantumComputing #CatQubit #Partnership
