Fighting childhood cancer, one cup at a time.
About us
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada raising more than $250 million so far, funding over 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer. This is Chloe’s story. Share this post on #GlioblastomaAwarenessDay to raise awareness in her memory🎗️ For children battling glioblastoma, treatment options are limited. The disease tends to spread quickly after relapse. In 2016, we shared the story of Chloe Cox, a 12 year old from Texarkana, Texas who had been diagnosed with this rare brain tumor. Chloe’s family utilized the ALSF Travel For Care program to help cover the costs of hotel rooms 300 miles away at M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas. Chloe passed away at 13 years old. Chloe’s mom Michelle desperately searched for a cure for her daughter—and now—she is keeping up the search in memory of Chloe. https://lnkd.in/eFUKUqRx

This week's featured hero is Maggie Gaal! Maggie is the definition of a survivor. At 9 years old, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her left tibia. Over the next ten months, Maggie would courageously endure 153 overnights in the hospital, which included 18 chemotherapies, 8 infections, 11 surgeries and ultimately the amputation of her left leg below the knee. Today, Maggie is a full-time ALSF Special Events team member! She spoke at this year's Great Chefs Event Philadelphia to share the success of her lemonade stands growing up, and being 17 years cancer-free! Check out the video of Maggie's speech here: https://lnkd.in/evTcSdBx Read more about her inspiring story here: https://lnkd.in/e2UngDR2 #SarcomaAwarenessMonth
