Attention: Substance Use Disorder Treatment Providers The Alabama Board of Nursing remains committed to ensuring that patient care is delivered by licensed staff who are healthy in both mind and body and competent to provide nursing services safely. Treatment providers are a vital part of that commitment, as our nation continues to battle substance use disorder and seek solutions for mental health. The Board is seeking additional providers to add to our Board approved provider list and increase our licensee options for care and treatment. We hope that your program will be interested in applying for approval and/or consider adding a Health Care Professional Track (HCPT) to your current program. The Board requires an HCPT due to the nature of the health care services our licensees provide. An HCPT should include the following components: 1. Comprehensive treatment, addressing the full spectrum of problems encountered; - Several levels of residential treatment - Day treatment (partial hospitalization) - Intensive outpatient treatment - Continuing Care/Aftercare after completion of treatment - Sober living after completion of primary treatment with some providers 2. Multiple treatment tracks and groups for addressing trauma, family of origin issues, professional issues, anger management, etc. 3. Eating disorder treatment in some programs. A list of requirements for ABN recognition of providers of substance use disorder treatment is available on the ABN website (www.abn.alabama.gov). If you believe that your organization meets these criteria, please contact Abby Migliore, Administrative Director for Discipline/Compliance Monitoring, at [email protected].
