Exciting News! 💥 On Friday, June 21st, the AISym4MED - Horizon Europe 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 took place at the University Library in Utrecht Science Park hosted by our partners from UMC Utrecht. This groundbreaking event brought together experts, researchers, and practitioners to explore the fascinating intersection of artificial intelligence (#AI) and #healthcare. 🔍 Our partners covered a diverse range of topics, including AI in medical imaging, time series analysis, explainable AI, and generative AI. This secure collaboration platform, co-funded by the European Union, empowers healthcare professionals by using controlled data synthesis to enrich experiments and models. Led by the Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS, AISym4Med is dedicated to creating a platform to equip healthcare data engineers, practitioners and researchers with a reliable dataset system enhanced with controlled data synthesis for experimentation and modeling. In this research, we introduce a framework to explore the decision-making process of deep learning classifiers by generating, selecting, and interpreting representative data points at the decision boundary. 🌟 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒: 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 Yesterday, the Belgian Data Spaces Day convened in Brussels, Belgium, providing a unique opportunity to delve into the objectives of the Belgian Data Spaces Alliance (BDSA) and explore the latest developments in the realm of Data Spaces at both the European Union (EU) and Belgian levels. The symposium on Health & Wellbeing featured three exceptional speakers who shared their perspectives: -Bart Matthys from imec, discussed the Health Data Space for Flanders project, shedding light on its significance and impact. -Jens Declerck DeClerk from The European Institute for Innovation Through Health Data delved into data quality projects for secondary use, offering insights into EHDS initiatives and the challenges of real-world application. -Bert Verdonck, representing the Luxembourg National Data Service (LNDS), highlighted ongoing activities in neighboring countries. Notably, he discussed the Dataspace4Health ecosystem within the Luxembourg Institute of Health. The symposium left a lasting impression, emphasizing the need for continuous improvement in our health systems across Europe. 🌍 At the event, we also underscored the importance of data safety, #security, #privacy, and #confidentiality in healthcare. The AISym4MED - Horizon Europe project is focused on developing a robust platform that grants healthcare data engineers, practitioners, and researchers access to a trustworthy dataset system. Augmented with controlled #datasynthesis, this platform enables critical health-related experimentation and #modeling. Beyond accessibility, AISym4Med prioritizes data privacy by incorporating cutting-edge #anonymization techniques and attribute-based #privacy measures, ensuring sensitive patient information remains confidential. The #EuropeanHealthDataSpace (EHDS) has the potential to be very positive for the #EuropeanUnion and its #citizens in a number of ways📊. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: 🔒𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬: The EHDS will give people more control over their health data. This will allow them to decide who can access their data and for what purposes, giving to people more privacy and control over their personal information. 🏥𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲: The EHDS will make it easier for healthcare providers to access a patient's complete medical history, regardless of where the care was provided. This can lead to better diagnosis and treatment. 🔬𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡: The EHDS will make it easier for researchers to access large datasets of health data.
