Did you know the wet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT) index can revolutionize how we understand and respond to heat stress? Joseph Allen, Associate Professor and Director of the Healthy Buildings program at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, explains why traditional temperature readings fall short in comparison to the WGBT index. With intensifying summer heat waves, it is important to use accurate measures like the wet-bulb globe temperature to protect outdoor workers and vulnerable populations. This method provides a more comprehensive understanding by considering air temperature, radiant heat, and humidity. Read his full article in the Washington Post to learn more about the value of using the WGBT index: https://lnkd.in/eHKJVafB PS: Download the AIHA Heat Stress app, which incorporates the WGBT index, to ensure accurate heat stress assessments and better workplace safety. Available now in the Apple and Google Play stores.
