The Professional Association for Design

About us

AIGA San Francisco, the professional association for design, is an organization with cross-disciplinary interests that deals with social, ethical and professional challenges. It is the largest professional association for the design community representing San Francisco, Silicon Valley, North and East Bay and the greater Bay Area. Our community hails from all disciplines, backgrounds, colors and cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds and levels of experience and we advocate for gender parity. Whether you’re interested in attending, contributing or volunteering, take a moment to browse some of our projects below and see why we’re your resource for all things design. Led by an Executive Director/CEO along with a volunteer board of directors and various committees, the organization celebrates design and provides unparalleled opportunities for networking within the local design community and offers a variety of resources to advance professionalism and broaden knowledge. AIGA SF’s events stimulate discourse and enrich the collective experience of design. Our events include: Designing Products, Mentorship Programs, Networking Events and Women in Leadership. One of our initiatives is Women in Leadership & Design (WILD). WILDs mission is to amplify women and non-binary designers’ collective power and visibility. We mobilize and energize impact in design leadership by focusing our work on connecting, elevating, sharing, and educating designers in our community. Often, we do this through events like group meals, speaker series, workshops, meetups, and more. We exist to redesign leadership, together. After more than 2.5 years, I’m stepping down from my role as Women in Leadership & Design (WILD) Chair on the AIGA San Francisco Board of Directors. What a journey it’s been! I’m immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished: → Relaunched the WILD brand with our friends at Yung Studio → Rebuilt the WILD Leadership team and larger volunteer committee → Shaped a vibrant community of diverse creatives across the Bay Area → Created a rich program of events and initiatives → Empowered women and non-binary individuals across design disciplines → Redesigned leadership, together (an ongoing commitment) To my fellow Board members — Clement Mok, Dawn Zidonis, Andre Pennycooke, Jeff Van Herpen, Jesus Chico, David Hisaya Asari, and Joe Miller — thank you for your support and collaboration. And to the entire WILD community, you’ve inspired me every step of the way. I’m thrilled to pass the torch to two amazing Co-Chairs, the sensational and generous Kimberly W. and Bianca Wendt. I know WILD will continue to thrive under your leadership. And to our new Committee Co-Lead, 🌱Resham Khanna, thank you in advance for all that you will be doing for this community. Shout out to our current WILD Leads as well: Stef Etow, Bev Maeda, Sid Deshpande, MHSA, Karin Ikavalko, Heather J., and Stef Fontela! And to other collaborators who have helped reimagine WILD along the way: Shuang Wu, Ayesha Mathews Wadhwa, Cathy Campbell, Natashia Tjandra, Marta Guy, Felicia Reyes, Isra Safawi, Alysa Trinidad, Betina Velloso Bethlem, Kelly Kinch, Krystal Lauk, Li-Anne Arabella Dias, Nicole Parente-Lopez, Wei Zheng, Bowen W., Debonné N., Esha Nambiar, Jiao Shi, Juanita Thota, Mahita P., Melinda K., Preet Ruparelia, Shannon Koy, Aaliya Jamal Zaidi, Angela Becerra, Beth Holzer, Chelsea Delgadillo, Kathryn Yep, Kim Chow, Lauren Kiri Chin, M.C. Madrigal, Ni Ni Tin Win, Summer McGuckin, Zoey Zhu, the folks at PACT Studio, and many, many more! While this chapter closes, the new friendships, connections, and experiences I’ve gained will stay with me always. Here’s to the power of community and the bright future of (women and non-binary representation in) design! → Check out the case study: https://lnkd.in/gD79MYYq → Learn more about WILD: https://aigasf.org/wild → Follow WILD on Instagram: https://lnkd.in/gH3uq7B4 → Donate to WILD: https://lnkd.in/gChUZn3z #AIGASFWILD #WomenInDesign #LeadershipTransition #TheFutureIsWILD
