Found incredible new ai app at gamma.app. Create slide presentations, documents and webspages incredibly quickly and easily. Here's what I did. Thinking about the Carolina Connect AI Conference coming up, I asked it to create a slide presentation for practical uses of AI for small businesses. In 30 seconds I had a nice presentation. If you’ve never run a conference, like most things, it’s harder than it looks. Since July, I’ve been working on pulling together an AI conference on December 1 for the Faber Entrepreneurship Center at the Darla Moore School of Business. Carolina Connect AI Conference What makes this difficult? First, I am not an AI expert. So I am acting as a sales manager, telling mechanics what’s most important for working on cars. So I spend a lot of time discussing topics and conference goals…way too much time. So here’s basically how things have gone. Design conference for the insurance and healthcare industries. Find speakers.  Research estimates only 20 people will show up. Time for Plan B! Redefine it. Let’s target small to medium sized businesses and marketers.  New audience means different speakers. Reach out to everyone! Pick a date. Meet with friends to help define speaking topics. Build the website to sell tickets. Problem. Turns out it’s not just drag and drop. Post anyway. Interview and lock in 6 speakers. Yeah! I'm a talent scout! Roundtable with speakers and friends to better define topics. Pick a new conference date when event room is double booked.  Lose 3 speakers with date change. Ugg. More brainstorming, more coffee, more topics. The hunt continues - land 3 more speakers! Zooming with speakers - one hour turns into eternity. Sell a few sponsorships! Cha-ching! Website doesn't work on mobile! Time for a rebuild.  Lost a big potential sponsor. Cha-nothing. Snap! Didn't check with USC. Can’t sell tickets on website! Add Eventbrite page. Original website still up with all wrong speakers! Upwork to the rescue! The sponsorship saga continues - more needed. Need more posts on LinkedIn. I thought AI was supposed to help with this! New website goes live! Finally. How do I get university approval to pay for flights for speakers? (Red tape is our friend!) Oh, did I forget I am taking 3 MBA classes. Drop everything for 2 weeks. Way behind! What were the topics again? The website is telling people the event is sold out….What!? And that was just October…..just kidding. See you there!
