The US Surgeon General recently declared parent stress a national health crisis. We've been tracking the emotional wellbeing of adults with caregiving responsibilities, and it is indeed alarming. As the AgileBrain framework below illustrates, adults with caregiving responsibilities (aka parents) are experiencing elevated activation in two areas in particular. Parents are striving to reduce negative (prevention or avoidance) feelings of Exclusion - consumed in caregiving roles that limit their opportunity for healthy social interaction - and Limitation - consumed in caregiving roles that limit their opportunity for personal growth and fulfillment. Addressing these unmet needs would go a long way toward reducing negative activation (aka stress).

𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐁𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐅𝐈𝐓 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐀 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐀𝐂𝐇? When I get lost driving around small-town New Jersey, I get my Waze ready but don't tap "Go Now" until I try to figure it out "one more time." Maybe it's an illusion of independence, but refusing to ask for help has cost me a lot.
