Agricultural Council of California was happy to host a talented group of interns from Farm Credit Services of Colusa-Glenn, ACA, this summer at Farmers' Rice Cooperative in #WestSac. It's always rewarding to engage with the future leaders of California agriculture and support our members by providing their interns with meaningful exposure to the policy and advocacy work that shapes our industry. Investing in the next generation is essential to ensuring a vibrant future for agriculture in our state, and we are excited to continue fostering these valuable connections. Appreciation goes to Farmers' Rice Cooperative and Brice Lauppe for providing our group with a tour. *** Emily Rooney Tricia Geringer Jacob DeFant

We were pleased to host legislators from the CA #ProblemSolvers Caucus on educational visits to Blue Diamond Growers’ Almond Innovation Center, a dairy w/ Dairy Farmers of America, and a winery w/ California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG). Discussion topics covered innovation, agriculture’s reuse of water and agricultural byproducts, renewable energy and the many ways farmers and food producers minimize their environmental footprint and achieve climate goals. Thank you to our member hosts and the legislative attendees from the #ProblemSolvers Caucus for spending time with us to learn more about California’s incredible agricultural community. We appreciate Assemblymembers Juan Alanis, David Alvarez, Josh Hoover, Tom Lackey, Carlos Villapudua, & Marie Waldron for joining us. Shout out to our tour collaborators California Association of Winegrape Growers for partnering with us and to St. Amant Winery for hosting an enjoyable end-of-the-day wine reception and discussion. *** Emily Rooney Tricia Geringer Jacob DeFant

At our recent Annual Meeting, leaders from Turlock Irrigation District, Friant Water Authority, Kern County Water Agency, and the Northern California Water Association gathered for a discussion on critical water issues. Topics ranged from allocation and sustainability to climate resilience. Leaders emphasized collaboration and innovation as essential for addressing challenges like drought and increasing demand. As California's agricultural industry navigates water policy complexities, forums like this are vital for dialogue and progress. Let's build upon the momentum from this meeting to create a more sustainable water future for California agriculture. #CaliforniaWater #Sustainability #AgCouncil #Leadership

Last week, the Ag Council of California convened its 105th Annual Meeting. A highlight was hearing from Chuck Conner, CEO of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, who offered insights centered on critical national issues. He discussed the Farm Bill and what to expect on its current extension and whether to expect a new bill anytime soon. Chuck also addressed pressing concerns such as immigration and agricultural labor challenges, shedding light on their impact and potential solutions. We extend our gratitude to Chuck Conner for joining us and for helping to make the 105th Annual Meeting a success. We will post more highlights about our Annual Meeting over the next week. #Agriculture #FarmBill #Immigration #LaborChallenges #AgCouncil #Leadership
